The New York Times: Black NoVa Girl Says White Private School Classmates Cut Her Dreadlocks

Anonymous
I was one of the first people to call BS on this story early in this thread and got attacked for it. Just had to come back and say told ya so.

Lead sentence now:
"The sixth-grade girl at a private Virginia school..."

Lead sentence 3 days ago:
"Fairfax County police are investigating an alleged attack on a sixth-grade girl by three boys Monday at the private Christian school..."

Now, who notices the difference in how the school is described? That's your Washington Post.

No way anyone would hire her after her fanning this gossip non stop each day.

Bragging about this hoax scoop -- she was personally tied to -- and the asinine hashtag. Fire this nitwit, immediately.

Aw man, she took her tweets down now. Yeah. Hope they screen shot them.

It's all still there. Six tweets 'investigating' the story then one saying it was false. Where is the in-depth investigation on the false story? Perhaps the false accusations against the other students is not worthy of her skilled investigative journalism.

The US media has gone truly crazy and truly racist.

What 6th grader imagines that she'll be in the NYT for trying to get a few jerks at school in trouble and cover herself for a mistake.

No, no. You don't get to sit here and still sympathize with her. SHE is the bully and the 3 boys are not the victims. This made national news. The family jumped the gun going to the media right away instead of letting the school handle it and do a sit down with everyone. They wanted their 5 minutes of fame shaming the VP's wife's school. Shame on them. Expel her and be done with this.

SHE is a child.

I'm not defending the choices her family made.

So what? If the boys did do this to her, they would have been expelled even though they were children. This is a serious accusation that her family took to national news. The only outcome is taking away the financial aid and removing her from the school. Do you think it would be a positive if she stayed there?

The girl flat out lied over and over again. She is old enough to figure out the hole was getting deep as soon as they set up a meeting with the school
The family had a meeting with the school and didn't like it and went to national news right away instead.
The girl continued to lie. Continued to pick 3 innocent kids and trash them and separate races once again.
The left loving media salivating for this story did not do any legit journalism and just went with it.

No family at that school wants that girl or her family there. They trashed the boys and the school. Good-bye.

The girl should be expelled from the school.

I'm not as super woke as others here, but I'm still a mom and I have sympathy for all of the KIDS involved here. They're all being used as puppets. The girl was wrong, but she deserved to be wrong in private just like any other kid her age. Yes, she lied and then kept up the act so so she wouldn't get in trouble but she wasn't the one calling CNN in the first place.

We have to give her credit for finally getting to the truth.

The true criminals here are the "adults" in the room. Those grandparents and those media outlets should pay heavy fines for malpractice and defamation.

that plus the cameras on the playground.

+100. Without the cameras the school and boys would have been dead in the water. A $100k system pays for itself with preventing just one false claim. Don’t know why more schools don’t put them in.

Liability, same reason nursing homes will not. If staff does something wrong, school can be held accountable.

This sounded fake from the start. The adults only apologized probably because the other parents threatened to sue them or something else. I feel bad for those boys accused. They may not be the best kids but no one deserves to be dragged out in social media and the press.

I wonder if the family put the girl up to it for their 5 minutes of fame or for another reason. The girl may have been a victim too. If she remains at that school, as a mom of a white boy (though I'd never put him in a school like that), we'd be out of there very quickly as I wouldn't want to risk it.

In the original interview the Grandfather seemed very uncomfortable. The Grandmother was all over this.
