Schools cause PoP to leave Petworth

Assume he is now IB for Murch or Hearst.

Likely Barnard.

I support POP's choice because, no, it is NOT okay to just "give it a go". I'm at an EOTP school that is crippled every year as gentrifiers exit and kids from school that apparently completely lack discipline policies or classroom management tools like responsive classroom take their place. If you think you don't have what it takes to stick with it, then we're all better if you cede your spot to someone who will stay.

Rezoned from Powell to Bruce Monroe, according EBIS using the ROD record of the house he recently sold in that neighborhood.

Oh, wait, I was taking the thread's word for it. But couldn't he have been rezoned to Barnard or Raymond? I don't want to know his Petworth address, but I would hope that those who know it have looked at the zoning map before naming Bruce Monroe?

His home was posted some pages ago. It was also in the Real Estate forum, unless it was deleted.

Right, but the point is, he never posted where it was -- so the only people who know he's dumping on Bruce Monroe are the people who went out of their way to figure it out.

I disagree. I've witnessed threads and comments get deleted that didn't make sense.

The planned parenthood one, for example. I never even noticed the first thread because I don't really care. Jeff said he deleted that long thread because he was sick of the people discussing concentration camps. Then a second and a third thread popped up, and those were deleted too. Those threads were a lot more detailed and nuanced, and as far as I could tell didn't have the objectionable pro life comments Jeff hated. He deleted those too.

Whatevs - it's his site and his right. My only point is that Jeff doesn't just delete the a-hole threads.

sorry I didn't mean to say detailed. I meant to say level headed.

Not to disagree with your point that I don't just delete a-hold threads, but you are wrong about the planned parenthood threads. First, given that you didn't even read the first one, I'd appreciate the benefit of the doubt that it was an a-hole thread. The second one that I locked was in Website Feedback. Website Feedback is not meant for the discussion of abortion and/or Planned Parenthood. The third one which you accurately describe, is still open. But, apparently without the anti-abortion diatribes, nobody is interested because it has dropped off the first page. My point is that I didn't delete the non-a-hole threads that were posted in proper forums.

So you're not the nosy type I guess. In any case, if I could make that move I would.

The facts:
He was in-bounds for Powell.
He was rezoned to Bruce Monroe.
He moved in-bounds for Hearst.

Ergo, he moved because he didn't want to send his children to Bruce Monroe.

What's wrong with one of several accessible Charters? Plenty of people go to charters and are happy.

That was not his choice.

To quote the Prince: "So basically my wife and I did some calculations – did we want to jump on the charter school lottery roller coaster (which has worked well for many, but has also been a disaster for others) or take the easier route (and recognizing that I am very lucky to even have this as an option) by moving into a different feeder school district. "

Plenty of people don't get into the carters they want their children to attend.

Or he wanted completely different school options from PK3 all the way up through 12th grade. Maybe they thought Bruce Monroe would be fine for a few years. Maybe they'd have left the Powell area anyway now that they're getting a new principal there. It seems unfair -- even to the Prince, as irritating as he is -- to accuse him of taking a shot at Bruce Monroe in a statement that only says they moved for schools.

You all might get some more of the detail you are looking for next week.

"Great interview with @PoPville on schools, neighborhoods, the beautiful life, and change in DC. Will be on @wamumetro next week"
