I follow Suri's Burn Book, and a post from a couple of days ago has a pic of Giuliana and her son. He's adorable, and I think her level of thinness still scares me.

I am surprised that her family is not staging an intervention. She is a lovely and vibrant young woman, wife and mom. She is reminding me more and more of Karen Carpenter. Its like watching a suicide in excruciatingly slow motion and being unable to stop it.

| She looks bad. But, one of my Mom's friends ate very little, was always incredibly thin, I only ever saw her drink coffee. She lived into her early 90s, but had so many bone problems (and other health problems) she was in constant misery the last 15 years of her life. My Mom (average weight to overweight at times) has done so much better. |

| She looks frightening. I hope she has regular physicals and someone checks out her heart. That said, I have an elderly neighbor who literally exercises all day-long walks, works out at gym, swims, etc and she eats like a bird. I think she's in her 80s. She seems to have no relationship with any of her kids (6 I think) or grandkids (many). Her whole life is about burning calories and being controlling. Very sad. |

Giuliana Rancic grew up here and went to Whitman as we all know. Why is everyone being hateful unless they are simply jealous?
Same with the Lisa Ling thread - and she grew up in California but definitely pissed off some people around here! Why? Because she is successful and smart and has a beautiful baby? Get over yourselves all of you. The ugly green monster is rearing its head. So sad. |

Have you seen the photos? Did you ever read her diet advice before it was all deleted years ago? She is obsessed with restricting and being thin. You sound like someone in the throws of an ED assuming everyone is jealous of a skeletal appearance. Maybe some people sounded pissed, but mostly I read horror on this thread and concern for her health. What about the people who want to emulate her? |

Why is it if someone criticizes a large person they are 'fat shaming' but if someone criticizes a slender person, even one who is unhealthy looking, we are all 'green-eyed jealous monsters'?? Sounds like you're the one hung up on what society perceives as an attractive body shape. No, I'm not jealous of a woman who looks like her head will fall off the top of her stick figure body. |

Melissa McCarthy is definitely not a 14. Maybe before, but not after. I believe she's gained quite a bit more weight than the picture on the left. I love her, and there's no need to be a size 2. But neither Giuliana's skeletal frame, or Melissa's morbid obese frame, are good or healthy. In general, extremes on either end of the spectrum are not so good.
