17:00: Zero dilation is frustration - but some effacement is encouraging. I hope things continue to progress for you!

Hi all, I am 41w+3 days, have an induction scheduled for Monday. Feeling pretty frustrated...thought that I lost my mucus plug yesterday but no other signs so far. Can't wait to give birth! |
Maybe your little one will come this weekend and surprise you (hope so). If not, I hope everything goes really well on Monday ![]() ~Petunia |
pp here. yes, it is my first and still no signs... |
I'm due on the 25th, with a scheduled c-section on the 19th if this baby hasn't come yet.m had my cerclage removed 2 weeks ago this coming Monday, dilated quickly tom4cm and am still hanging out at 4. My doctor can't believenimmstill pregnant and neither can I! So for all of you that aren't dilated yet, dOnt feel bad - at least you have a reason for not going into labor yet. Me, I have confused everyone!!!!!!
But the most important thing is that these babies will be healthy and come when they are ready. I prayed my whole pregnancy for this baby to stay in, so I shouldn't complain for one minute! Good luck to everyone. |
^^^ I hear ya! I too prayed and worried about this baby staying in after multiple miscarriages. And, now I am worried the baby won't come out anytime soon! But, I know I too should not complain and should just enjoy the ride (however long it may be!).

Vee here. Just wanted to check in and say I'm thinking about you all! |
Petunia here - Hi, Vee! Hope you and your little baby are doing great! I am due on Tuesday, but it looks like my little one is going to make a later appearance! |
I was due Aug 1st (3rd baby) and after speaking with a midwife about "post dates" and reading this article, I feel a lot better....thought some of you would enjoy this too:

Elle here. Still no baby! I decided to hit up my favorite acupuncturists, if nothing else just to help me chill out about it. I'll admit I'm feeling a little bit antsy. My dad is texting me every day "How are you feeling?" "How's it going?" (Like I'm not going to tell him if I'm on my way to the hospital!)
On one level, I'm jealous of the people who actually know their cervical dilation, even if it means nothing. Tempted to ask for a look at my next midwife appointment on Tuesday. Though also hoping that I don't make it that far... But yeah, nothing to worry about really. Things aren't really "late" yet. |
Petunia here -
Thanks for that article, 11:15! Elle - Hang in there! I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow (or, even better, that you don't make it that far). I can relate to the antsy feeling. I am due tomorrow and have an appointment Weds. I barely have Braxton Hicks and was not effaced or dilated last week. I was worried about complications related to postterm deliveries, but this eased my mind a bit: www.midwiferytoday.com/articles/timely.asp Postdates, by itself, is not associated with poor pregnancy outcome. Extreme postdates or postdates in conjunction with poor fetal growth or developmental abnormalities does show an increased risk of stillbirth. But if growth restriction and birth defects are removed, there is no statistical increase in risk until a pregnancy reaches 42 weeks and no significant risk until past 43 weeks. The primary "evidence" of a sharp rise in stillbirth after 40 weeks—often misquoted as "double at 42 weeks and triple at 43 weeks"—seems to come from one study based on data collected in 1958.(1) |
Don't be jealous!!!! 4cm dilated poster here. Based on how fast I had dilated, they did my per-admit bloodwork last Tuesday thinking I would deliver Tuesday evening. Well, here I still sit......... |
Elle here. Had my NST today, and the baby has a very happily beating heart. Everything is still fine, and ooof, so many contractions today. Not Braxton-Hicks either, but the real deal. But they always peter out before picking up any kind of pattern.
I've got an appointment for some acupuncture tomorrow, and I'm hopeful that will help kick things along. |
First time posting, not sure how I missed this thread! I'm due Aug. 29th, 2nd baby, delivering with a midwife. If anyone is in the montgomery county area and would like to meet up after delivering, post back!

Just checking in to see how things are going with everyone. Elle and 4 cm dilated poster - you sound like you are SO close to delivery! Hopefully, your babies have arrived!
I am officially postterm today. We'll see what the doctors say. I believe they are doing a NST. As long as baby is doing fine, I am going to just try to cool my jets and be patient. I am rarely having Braxton Hicks and no sign of real contractions. This may take a while... ~ Petunia |
