August due dates?

Hmmm...I just bought a pineapple, maybe I should eat it all! Just kidding. I know there is probably no magic bullet that will ripen the ol' cervix, but I figure I will give the pineapple, sperm and walking (not all at once!) methods a try

Two of my sisters were induced and had uncomplicated deliveries. It sounds like the contractions are a bit worse with induction, but, overall, that it is not the end of the world if it does come down to induction. I would just hate to be induced AND have a c-section. So, as the PP said, hopefully all of our babies will get here on their own timetable...and hopefully a timetable the is close to the due date (or even a little early)...

I'm looking into nursing shirts on Gap and Old Navy. None of them have great reviews. I bought one from Gap - just want to have handy and see how it goes. Has anyone found good ones? I would prefer shirts to tanks. And, nothing that is too form fitting around the waist, for obvious reasons

Yay Vee! Early as predicted. Congrats!

My due date is on Wednesday. So much for my chiropractor's prediction that I'd go earlier than that. I have a midwife appointment that day, and I guess there will be things to talk about in terms of what happens next. Still trying to stay very zen, but also hormones are acting up and making me very weepy like every day.

Last night I had some very clear warm-up labor. Different contractions from Braxton-Hicks, very regular, very clear waves up and down, but they stopped cold turkey after two hours (around midnight). I'm hopeful it's all a sign that I get to meet my little boy soon, but at this point it's anybody's guess.

LR here..

congrats vee!! Your baby has the bday I wanted mine to have.8/5/13 cause 8+5 =13. So cool. Anyway still waiting for mine to arrive and working from home is getting boring. Due weds. Dr apt tomorrow. Baby is squirming a lot so I'm hoping that's a sign of something. Or maybe I'm just hungry for dinner! Good luck ladies!

LR and Elle, you are both due today? Any updates? Elle - more warm-up labor?

Just had an appointment this morning - cervix is doing nothing. I am due on Tuesday. I have an appointment next Weds. and we will talk about the possibility of induction dates then :/ But, they said they won't induce until I am about 1 and 1/2 weeks past the due date. So, I am just sitting tight and hoping this baby surprises me and comes sooner than the doctors are expecting.

Hope everyone is doing well! Hang in there ladies!

Hi Petunia!

Had a check-up today with the midwives. Yep, it's my due date, but they seemed unconcerned, and didn't even bring up induction yet. I'll be going in for an NST next week (unless something happens between then and now!), but everything looks good. Baby is in a good position and all that. So I feel reassured and fine about being "past due." I was reassured that the average length of a 1st time pregnancy is 41 weeks 1 day, and that means I could go even later than that.

I think with my practice they'll start suggesting things like acupuncture to get things moving. In the meantime, DH has been trying to get me to eat spicy food, I've kept up with taking long walks and eh hem, cervical ripening things, and red raspberry leaf tea and such... we'll see.

Oh that's Elle, btw.

Petunia here,

Too funny - yesterday I looked up the average length of 1st pregnancies and saw it was 41 weeks, and then 40 weeks for subsequent pregnancies. Tell me again why people say pregnancy is 9 months when it is really 10 (or 10+)? Ha!

Good luck with all of your cervical ripening activities, Elle I hope they are successful and you meet your little one soon!

38.5 weeks, 70% effaced, zero dilation. Ugh. Might have some time yet.

Well no, it's really 9 months. Remember you start counting from your last period. From conception, it is 9 months.

Looks like we split the difference - 9.5 months is calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period (280 days/40 Weeks).
