4cm poster here - nope still hanging out at 4!!!!!!! This baby is content ![]() |
Elle here. Officially 41 weeks today. But what a gorgeous day outside! I'm actually really really glad I went ahead and started my maternity leave this week. It means I can be outside all day and enjoy this blessing of an August day.
No baby yet, but like you, Petunia, I'm just cooling my jets (mostly). Baby is still active and healthy and he'll come when he comes. He's just picking out the right outfit to wear, I'm sure of it. |
4 cm - oh.my.goodness! What an exercise in patience! I get excited when I feel the rare Braxton Hicks. I can't imagine hanging out at 4 cm for so long. You are a trooper!
Elle - glad you are off and enjoying the beautiful day. I just took a walk - it was so nice. But, all it seemed to accomplish was giving my baby hiccups. It sounds like your baby realizes the importance of first impressions as he selects carefully selects the right outfit ![]() ~ Petunia |
Nobody can believe i am still pregnant. I have definitely defied all odds. Especially since I contract like crazy and have for a long time. Although it has been a test of patience, I try to keep it all in perspective. After a devastating 2nd tri loss 4 years ago (water broke with twins @ 19 weeks), all I have prayed for over the years and during this pregnancy is for me to be able to make it long enough thru a pregnancy to give the baby a good chance of surviving and thriving. So not only have I done that but I have far exceeded my doctors' and my expectations. I got my cerclage out over 2 weeks ago and dilated to 4 in no time flat. But here I still sit over 2 weeks later. Although I myself am ready, this baby isn't, so as long as he/she is still doing ok in there, my doctor said we are leaving things alone until Monday. Since I did ivf and am 36, he feels like Monday (39 weeks), is a good, safe limit. I agree. Hang in there! I have walked and walked and walked til I am blue in the face. This baby isn't budging even with my dilated cervix!!!!! |
Hang in there ladies. Soon you'll be joining the ranks of the sleepless moms. I'm 9:35 from a couple of weeks ago and my little girl is doing well, but sleep is precious and being able to leave the house without 10 pounds of gear would be nice. Enjoy the weather and I'm sending wishes for quick and easy deliveries for all my August mommies!! |
Wow, 4 cm! I am so happy you have had a full-term pregnancy after your devastating loss. It is hard to trust your body and have faith that things can work out well after such a loss. This is my 11th (yes, eleventh) pregnancy. And, it is the only one that made it past the 1st trimester. So, while I am tired of being pregnant and eager for this baby, I have waited so long for a baby, I can wait another week or so. My doctors are looking at next Thursday or Friday for induction. While I am not a huge fan of induction, I am fine with inducing at the end of next week since I am AMA and will be 1.5 weeks late. Best of luck to you - please keep us posted!
16:05 - thanks for the well wishes! While I don't envy the lack o' sleep and pounds of baby gear when leaving the house, I am jealous that you have your little one and are past the labor and delivery! Congrats on the birth of your little girl! ~ Petunia |
Wow Petunia - 11!!!!!!! I'd say we have both weathered the storm (albeit different ones). We have worked hard to get to where we are. But it is ok for us to be eager - we are only human after all. Keep us posted. I'm thinking about you! |
That was 4cm^^^. |
Wow, Petunia. 11 pregnancies. You must be one strong woman. I am so happy for you. Please keep us posted. And 9:35--you are totally right. I am due with my 2nd on Monday. I think I am finally actually starting to appreciate the topsy-turvyiness wonderfulness of pregnancy--the aches, the pains, yes... but the kicks and hiccups are awesome. |
Thanks for the kind words, ladies. It has been a miserable, emotional roller coaster getting to this point. But, finally holding my baby will make all bad memories fade quickly.
Speaking of pain, I had lots of Braxton Hicks, cramping, back pain, and even a little blood (who knew a person would get so excited over a possible "bloody show"?) yesterday evening and in the wee hours of the morning. I just knew labor was starting. This morning...nothing! Boo! I am hoping my body is warming up for labor and I won't make it to my induction date (next Thursday). How is everyone else doing? |
^^ That was Petunia, btw ![]() |
Was due 8/18 but baby arrived 8/13 (only three hours after contractions started). Good luck to everyone else still waiting! |
10:21 - Congratulations!! Was this your first baby? Three hours after contractions started was fast! That's great!

LR here!!
Our baby boy was born 8/8 at 4:48 am .. went to my 40 week appt and they were still concerned with my hypertension so sent me immediately to L&D. I went on cervidil overnight on 8/6 cause i was still 0 cm and then they were going to start pitocin in the morning but my BP was low all night so they checked and I was 1 cm. Dr swept membranes and I went into labor right there. But we were discharged and I labored at home all day then went in at 12:30 am on the 8th and my little guy 4 hrs later. It has been the most exhausting time of my life!! But my little guy is fighting his jaundice and he and his daddy and I are so happy together. Best of luck to all you august mommies still waiting. Sleep now because you won't get any sleep the first week!!! |
Oh LR here again,
Happy to say the rest of the labor and delivery were all natural ![]() Petunia good luck to you sounds like you are close. Eat some spicy food. Elle, glad you are enjoying the weather, I have left the house only a few times since the baby arrived. Think we are going to try a walk today. And good luck 4 cm!! |
