Link? From what I’ve read there’s no time for that.

This is always theatre. Stop being played. They have more than enough time for a deal.

I would have agreed with you back in March...but now Schumer feels like he was played when he made that deal. Facing an angry base and a potential primary challenge from his left I don't see any compromise.

There's a very obvious compromise that I am shocked that the Dems aren't doing.

A clean CR in exchange for releasing the Epstein files!

Ah that is a good play but Trump’s DOJ will redact or remove Trump and other prominent Rep.

Yeah. They'd have to release the only-victim-redacted files first. So time is short. But why not ask?

Schumer is making the decision to let federal workers go without pay for a few months vs. many millions of Americans going without health care coverage.

The Feds are a smaller contingent, so they are going to bear the brunt of this. God speed everyone.

Nah. It's a stupid play. The subsidies and other cuts haven't happened yet. They aren't going to get the credit they think.

Good, because he Pu$$IED out the last time.

No, he put America in jeopardy with that stunt and should just have gone forward with the plan right away, but just a sidenote that it's against democrat values. Let it play out, and if it fails, then they can propose an alternative; however, they need to let the Republicans fail.

4 million Americans lose their subsidies on January 1st. It’s already raising insurance premiums as companies plan for the worst.

Yes. But it hasn't happened yet. Nobody ever gets credit for stopping something that might happen in the future. It's way too inside baseball.

Agree with this take. People won't get it. Americans don't pay enough attention and it is way too nuanced for people to easily understand. They won't understand until it actually happens and they suddenly can't afford healthcare.

The Dems should shut down the government on three issues- release all of the Epstein files, US federal agents can not wear mask & must provide identification and demand the revenues from tariffs be issued in a check to all US citizens not just the farmers.

Healthcare no one cares about because it has not impacted anyone.

Come on democrats this is an easy one. Don’t f it up before it happens.

These three items exactly. This would have easy bipartisan support. There’s really no viable argument on the right against these. Even the regular MAGA voter would agree with these.

1000% agree. Please MAGA will just say raising rates is Fake News. They will never believe Dems would try to help them.

Let the people touch the stove.

The National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF), a nonpartisan fiscal policy organization, states that Democratic demands include "eliminating restrictions on Medicaid eligibility for illegal immigrants," estimating the cost at $6.2 billion.

https://www.ntu.org/publications/detail/caving-on-democrat-healthcare-demands-would-be-a-costly-giveaway

Senate Democratic Leadership is refusing to move forward unless Republicans meet a series of demands that would soak taxpayers with hundreds of billions of spending. In addition to demanding an extension to temporary COVID-era Obamacare subsidies, Democrats are asking for a complete reversal of Medicaid changes enacted this summer.

A detailed look at their demands includes:

A Permanent Extension of the Enhanced Premium Tax Credit ($410 billion)

These COVID-era tax credits were meant to be temporary to ensure people had access to health care during a period of lockdowns, yet making them permanent would funnel billions of dollars to high-income households while leaving taxpayers on the hook. These enhanced subsidies also encourage higher premiums by shielding consumers from the true cost of coverage.

A Rollback of Work Requirements for Able-Bodied Adults ($325 billion)

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act requires eligible working-age, able-bodied Medicaid recipients to either maintain a job, be enrolled in school, or volunteer for 20 hours per week. Without these work requirements, enrollment would continue to swell and states would be forced to cover higher Medicaid and SNAP outlays.

Enabling State Medicaid Money Laundering ($191 billion)

The Democratic proposal would repeal limitations on healthcare provider taxes that were put in place to help control Medicaid spending. Medicaid expansion states have been taking advantage of the current system through provider taxes, allowing them to extract more funding from the federal government.

Allowing Medicaid Enrollees to Claim Benefits in Multiple States ($17 billion)

The Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services finds there are almost 3 million Americans potentially enrolled in multiple Medicaid exchange plans. This allows states to obtain a greater portion of federal dollars through improper means.

Allowing Illegal Immigrants to Claim Medicaid ($6.2 billion)

Eliminating restrictions on Medicaid eligibility for illegal immigrants would drive up costs for both the federal government and the states. Limiting coverage to citizens and lawful residents ensures that taxpayer funds are only directed to those legally entitled to receive benefits.

A Rollback of Verification Tools to Ensure Medicaid Enrollees Are Not Deceased

Rolling back requirements to verify deceased Medicaid enrollees would directly undermine efforts to prevent wasteful and fraudulent spending.

A CR is only going to delay the conversation until the holidays, which makes it infinitely more difficult for the Dems to play hard ball — it’s now or never.

Trump can order RIFs at any time; threatening it now is just a tactic he is using because he is unwilling/incapable of actually negotiating — so much for the Art of the Deal. Remember, Trump is the one that ordered the RIFs if the Dems didn’t acquiesce, and since there are many options for negotiation that he chooses not to take, then Trump owns the fallout.

I will be directly affected by a shutdown and maybe even the RIFs. I support a shutdown because I am tired of going through this exercise multiple times a year. I want to see our government work as it was intended, via compromise.

National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) and its lobbying affiliate, the National Taxpayers Union (NTU), are right-wing maga groups. They are funded by “conservative” billionaires who want everyone else to pay more taxes. This is just paid propaganda for the right wing MAGAs like yourself. Nothing they push is fact based or relevant.

When the dems get back in to power this organization and its financial backers will be declared domestic terrorists.

Yes but the dems are so stupid they play right into it every time. That maga PP knows they're lying, and that most Americans are barely paying attention anyway. Schumer needs to stop assuming the public understands the details of policy. Actually, Schumer needs to go.
