Yes, I forgot about the new research classification which reminds me of the fact that they've continually increased the funding going towards undergraduate research (i think 5-10% jump this year compared to last year). Which reminds me of the grant they got earlier this year (maybe this month?) that is going to allow them to fund even more internships for students (which has also been increasing the past few years (school-funded internships)) |
| I got into both WM and UVA and I had a 4.5 GPA and the average is like a 4.3+ so a 4.0 isn’t that competitive here anymore. On top of that, extracurriculars are huge and it isn’t just numbers for the top schools. I have a friend who had double legacy at UVA and a 4.6 and she didn’t get in because she wasn’t a good fit there. She goes to another great school out of state in a scholarship and is way happier. My point is kids end up where they fit and a 4.0 doesn’t entitle you to an acceptance at top schools anymore. |
The state of Virginia banned legacy and donor admission preferences in the summer of 2024. Legacy status does not confer any admission benefits at UVA anymore. |
Exactly! If you don't believe this - talk to someone from Maryland. We have a variety of great state schools for all types of students. |
Translation: go to one of the schools for dumb people. |

OP. Yes, Virginia should exercise eminent domain and take all necessary property in Charlottesville, Blacksburg, and Williamsburg to expand UVA, VT, and W&M so that they can become 3 of the 4 most populous cities in VA and meet the needs of every VA resident that wishes to attend college.
Can’t understand why that hasn’t happened already. OP do you now understand how absurd your idea is. VA has an incredibly diverse university system, with a school for every VA resident. I suggest you focus on working with your DC to find that institution. |
