Convince that there are young men who believe in women’s rights

You know it’s funny… what I hear from Trump voters is how tired they are of being called stupid, racist, ignorant, etc. And we can debate whether or not clearly articulated statements have come out of that campaign that would fit those adjectives. But here’s OP on this thread, explaining that her daughter feels alienated from many of her male peers. She’s correctly noting that a significant proportion of the cohort her daughter would date is embracing a party that has been openly hostile to women. There is no debate about that. And in response, this poster calls OP’s daughter is spoiled, insufferable baby.

This is one of the main reasons I have such trouble taking many Trump voters seriously. It’s impossible to have conversations with people who stomp their feet about something and then turn around and do that exact same thing in a conversation where no one asked them to. Nobody asked anybody to weigh in with this level of vitriol for OP‘s daughter. OP didn’t start a thread insulting anyone. In fact, she started a thread lamenting her concern for someone she cares about, her child. Which is something that any voter of any demographic could relate to. And yet, we have an entire thread of people lobbing insults at both women, a la the poster above. It’s really something to behold.

You know what's really something to behold? The fact that you completely ignore the over-the-top melodrama and hyperbole of the OP's post. No doubt, she has passed on her gift for exaggeration and drama to her daughter. Let's take a look at the OP again:

"My 25 yr old daughter, who just moved to new city with a new job, has lost her faith in men. After America chose a misogynistic rapist to lead our country, she believes there are no men worth dating. She’s scared for her future and wants nothing to do with men. I am trying to convince her that there are supportive kind men out there (including her own father). Can you share examples of young men fighting for women’s rights?"

Does this sound like a stable person to you?

Right...you just proved my point. OP is noting her daughter expressing something that millions of women are saying right now. Post-election, this is everywhere. The garbage appearing on SM with the "your body my choice" nonsense may not represent all men (thankfully), but it's chilling. And given that 13 states completely banned abortion post-Dobbs, these fears are in no way imaginary. "Melodramatic" was exactly the word used before the SC decision, now it's considered "melodramatic" to react to it. I get that there is no issue considered a "women's issue" that you deem worthy of real interest or attention, but that isn't OP or her daughter's position, nor should it be. Whether or not OP's daughter is "stable" isn't something you're qualified to assess, and is just an attempt to dismiss her. So yeah. In a real discussion about a poster's adult child noting her disconnection from her cohort of desired partners, and acknowledgement that your first response is name calling, and the repeated statements that Democrats name-call Trump voters, you....call her names.

Shrug. This is why discussions don't work with voters like this. The fight is the point. Always. Again, something to behold.

Doesn’t sound like they are targeting girls now though.

My 17 yr old daughter in fcps reports the same. The girls do try to find out what side the boys are on, just to be safe. And yes. some here will call us paranoid, but better be safe than sorry.

Not just 17-year-olds. People factor in the politics of their potential mates. Obviously not all do, but many do especially when we're talking about some of the really divisive ugliness in the maga Trump era.

Trump is the cool thing to do for boys right now. They have made a fraternal culture with young men. You can see it with all of the trump hats and the flags and Truck decorations. It feels like you are part of a club.

Yup. Guys do like their flags & hats/hoods.

Perhaps she should go out and meet people. Talk with some men and get their perspective. I think she will find that many would agree that her body, her rights/decisions, BUT perhaps they voted for Trump b/c something else was a top priority. If they believe the same and live in an area like the DMV where it is unlikely to pass in their state, maybe something else was their key voting point.
Most young men I know, quite a few who voted for Trump, are pro-choice. It was not a primary reason for their vote.

They tolerated his sexual assaults. They tolerated his abuse towards women. They tolerated that Trump is fine with dozens of states in this country calling 20% of their female population baby killers.

For God's sake please educate yourself and yourself about civics and federalism. Dibbs (and what Trump proposes is simply a return to the states of priority issues (including Ed isdues) as our founding fathers intended. we are a Republic, not a democracy. States can handle these issues better and with less waste because the states are closer to their people than the federal govt. This is history/civics 101. You are destroying your daughter by feeding into the lies and hate of the liberals who phrase it as "women's health". You can always get your abortion. Go to a neighboring state. Planned Parenthood will drive you. Go out in country. Use responsible birth control. Read the wall street journal and actually LEARN about real issues instead of the scream of liberals. Stop with the whining and pretend issues. Trump never said he wants a federal ban. google it (I'm not a Trumper but am fed up with the insane hysteria on this echo chamber -you are harming yourselves and the loved ones around you through this immature behavior. Start reading the commentary about what went wrong for you. Even the liberal WaPo is laying it out day by day.

Look there are plenty of men that are not okay with any of that. Those are the ones attractive to date.

He is great at branding I’ll give him that one. I probably will never look at a red hat the same way again.

It's not about Women's Rights! That is bs by liberals to stir you up and get you to stupidly vote for them, whichedobviousky succeeded because you are here whining about nothkng. First, the loss was due to Biden's poor economy and Kamala's stupidity. you had a bad candidate. She never distanced herself from Biden which was a mistake. She also couldn't articulate a single program of her own. The abortion matter fell far behind but it was simply that -that abortion is returned to the states for the states to decide. THAT is all!

When my friend's HS daughter has to drive her younger brother and his friends around sometimes, she refuses to let any of those hats in her car. Love her!

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this but you sound drunk.

My 18 yr old son and everyone of his friends voted for Harris (if they were 18) or at least supported her if they were old enough to vote (17). He thought Trump was a crook.

Yes. Was Nikki Haley a bad candidate too? Not enough female criminal candidates, huh? We better find one for 2028.

Your son and his friends are who most of college women will be fighting over to date. Not the magas who want to do menstrual tracking and follow Musk's idea for elevating a special class of "talented men" to rule our country.
