Convince that there are young men who believe in women’s rights

Anonymous
My 25 yr old daughter, who just moved to new city with a new job, has lost her faith in men. After America chose a misogynistic rapist to lead our country, she believes there are no men worth dating. She’s scared for her future and wants nothing to do with men. I am trying to convince her that there are supportive kind men out there (including her own father). Can you share examples of young men fighting for women’s rights?

No one cares about you cat lady daughter. She's free to move to another country if she doesn't like it here.

College probably indoctrinated her that she's a permanent victim of oppression unless she doesn't get her way 100% of the time.

I thinks it’s absurd that abortion is framed as “women’s rights,” as if women are the only ones involved. Babies include males too and every man had a mother and we damned well are entitled to have an opinion on what “women can do with their bodies.”

Teach her some basic critical thinking skills. Good God.

I am in my 40s and know many college educated women that are single despite desperately searching for a male partner for the past twenty years since college graduation. Chances are your daughter would never find a partner even if she wanted to, so who cares about convincing her.

Yes. They are in the US military and are either fighting for or willing to fight for the rights of women as well as men. However, your daughter is not worthy of them.

What? Whoa. Did you actually just say that?

Explain to her that majorities of voters in multiple states including very red states have voted in favor of abortion protections. There are many, many men out there that abhor Trump. Even many Trump voters don't like Trump but had their reasons for voting for him (I don't agree with those reasons).

Or just let some time pass. Everyone I know is really grumpy right now and just needs some time to buck up and recognize their lives are still fine.

She can stay celibate and single and then doesn’t have to worry about ready access to abortions. It’s a problem that solves itself.

Right now there aren't, but as we see a huge uptick in women getting pregnant and these men needing to pay child support, suddenly they'll start pushing for abortion.

OP, this is entirely your fault. You managed to raise an insufferable shrew. Having this unhinged attitude is a guarantee of forever being alone just as it was 20 years ago. Great job!

+1

I’m a 50 something lifelong Dem with a SJW job and I realize that abortion isn’t why more than half the voters voted for Trump. Long story short: many simply voted against what they perceived to be the Dems going too far left.

If your daughter is interested in dating a man, she might want to understand how many young, well-educated men (and white men in particular) have been told they are the source of all evil: the toxic, privileged patriarchy. There’s more, but that’s the start.

Not all young men are bad. I mean, even by your kid’s purity test (voting for Harris), plenty of men voted for her.

The best advice you can give your daughter is to keep an open mind. Any rigid non-negotiable linked to how they voted in this election seems silly.
