Pay them no mind. It's just white fragility in action.

Our kids will be talking to us when they are older. Good luck.

What a stupid thing to say. Seriously PP?

Absolutely. A big part of this is that east Asian culture is very different from traditional western culture/ values, and the two don’t necessarily mesh well. Prioritizing “freedom” and “independence” and “finding yourself” doesn’t really vibe with Confucian values. Actually, white Americans get along fairly well with foundational black Americans, as they share many religious and moral values, even if there are major differences in expression. Asian values are a completely different thing, and anyone who has lived long term in Asia can tell you that, how jarring and “foreign” it can feel in a way that travelling to almost anywhere else will not. White students will probably not be put off attending Harvard or Yale or whatever if the class becomes more black, but they likely will become disenfranchised of it becomes much more Asian, because of the immense differences in culture and personality. And when the white people leave, sadly the prestige tends to go with them

+1 black and white Americans have a ton of agreement on culture and what higher Ed should look like. Asian Americans are obsessed with quantifiable metrics and pure number assessments of people, because it’s very common in East Asian cultures to strip yourself down to fit into the common culture.

Sorry the US Supreme Court doesn't agree with whatever the Black and White culture.

SCOTUS is a bunch of clueless white dudes making a lot of questionable decisions. Trump is above the law!?! Yeah, SCOTUS has no credibility. Race can be taken into consideration for the armed forces, but not other kinds of colleges!?!? Yeah, like that makes any sense. The person who spearheaded this case is a white supremacist, a bizarre self-loathing Jew who lost an election to a person of color and motivated by resentment has been obsessed with oppressing POC ever since. The fact that a bunch of Chinese immigrants allowed themselves to be duped by this guy who used them to forward this case is embarrassing. Well, they should be embarrassed but they aren't, because they no squat about this country and are under the mistaken impression that Harvard and MIT admits students under the same criteria as universities in China. This case was never about Asians really. What idiots!

Chinese universities actually use affirmative action for internal minority groups. They're now "ahead" of the US in that regard.

Then Chinese immigrants shouldn't be complaining.

The Han majority hate the policy, though.

Anyway, there's nothing for Chinese Americans to complain about. Affirmative action in college admissions is now illegal in the US. And if MIT is anything to go by, the law is being followed. If anything could be classes as needless "complaining," it's the posts of AA dead enders like you. You lost. Condolences.

Grasping at straws, I see. The white meltdown in action. It's so glorious to watch.

You have to understand this is the only way these mediocre whites could comprehend why Asians are so far ahead in academic. It must have been through some cruel military training, right?

You’re so out of touch. Wake up now!
Dems hate Asians with a passion. Affirmative Action, TJ “reform”, you name it.

Asians are great and are welcome in the Democratic party.

It the GOP that constantly make race a wedge issue.

I don't see many, of anyone going on and on about Affirmative Action except for you. You brought it up. There is nothing else to be said about it but strangely you keep on talking about it. The changed in policy do not mean however that everyone now is going to a) worship Asians and proclaim in the streets how awesome they are. People will factor in lots of things in deciding where to go to school, including demographic trends. If AA changes trends, that will change decision making on families' part.

It’s not just pp who would go on and on about AA. AA will go down in history as an example of how racism is still well alive in 21st century.

This is your country. Why do you need to feel accepted by another group of people?
If there is discrimination we fight it.

I don't know what happened to you but I don't feel that there is discrimination towards Asians.

Affirmative Action isn’t a discrimination against Asians? They discriminate us at will because of people like you who bury their heads in the sand.

We are 7% US population and 40+% of the class. So no, I don't feel that anything is not fair or that there is discrimination.

The US Supreme Court disagrees with your feeling. Every student should be treated as an individual not as a part of a race.

Well, not really. Wasn’t a unanimous vote (Read the dissent. It’s quite good) and it would have been closer if not for Republican shenanigans to not consider Garland under the pretense of the next president should decide to only change that position when it suited them.

Spelman is her next stop.

My son just finished his freshman year at Howard and had a spectacular experience! I'm a Morehouse alum myself. If HBCUs end up being the lucky recipient of many top tier Black students who have fled top20 schools for HBCUs, so be it.

More seats for Asians, so be it.

You're in agreeance with the other commenter. I think this may just be a positive in that Black students will leave these unsupportive environments and asian students will become the majority. White students will respond accordingly.

They still are and reject many better applicants for diversity admits in other categories: women especially.

Probably a good call. Our child is a sophomore at a lac and the students are completely turned off by the upcoming class, because they’re so Asian compared to previous classes.

DC just finished orientation and found a handful of black students. Let’s just say she’s clawing to hit the transfer button. It’s great that some students will have more options to be with their community, but this is not the environment for her

Won’t that just make it worse for the other black students? What’s the obsession with being with people for a skin tone

For decades we were told that race shouldn’t matter…treat all people the same. Now race is the only thing that matters. I’m confused.

People here will straight up say that Asians are better because culture, harp about how discriminated Asians are, talk about how ending affirmative action will make American colleges more Asian and then when presented with that reality buckle and scream out racist.

Because the goal is to enter elite predominantly white institutions and share in the elitism, to make a joint, equal, intermarrying Asian-White elite class, but that can't happen if the whites flee.

Really? Is NBA not elite enough for you?
Who cares if there is white black or Asian flee? You think too much of yourself 😆

Why is the nba always brought up? College admissions is far from meritocratic, and if it was, we’d just send each student an IQ packet with their application and call it there.

The point was, did you see the NBA become more or less elite after the white exit?

The NBA is brought up as an example of a situation in which people hire black people at a % far beyond their % in the general population, & happily pay them well based on their excellence. And by extension, the same thing could happen in accounting or law or medicine. Blacks lag behind in those fields, but it’s within their power to study hard and dominate in fields other than basketball.
