Vance’s Latest Misogynistic View

No Vance fan, but if you listen to the entire podcast, it’s clear the host is saying the “biological” value of Post-Menopausal women. He notes that no other mamels have menopause. So what’s the evolutionary value? They also discuss how our modern economy values paid work way more than kin work. Is that right? Should we value caregiving roles more? If so, what’s the policy answer to that? Interesting questions- I’m glad these issues are in the public forum, I wish we were talking about the issues rather than ranting about what JD did or did not say on a years old podcast.

Men who get their first girlfriend at age 28 tend to be very weird and have a lot of anger lurking beneath the surface towards women. JD needs a therapist.

Second of all, what a classically male assumption that once women aren't sexually useful then they must be useful to men in some other way. Perhaps when men can no longer sexually function they can also be relieved of their utility in the corporate or public sphere and be directed to serve the greater good in some way?

This is rank misogyny, nothing more, nothing less. But I don't think I need to actually tell PP that - he knows. Hiding behind the biology argument is a huge tell.

He’s always talking about the importance of family, but if he’s in the senate and usha was working in big law, who was raising his kids till then? Immigrants, they get the job done. (Whether ushas mom, Nannies, or both)

As parents, they were prob barely around the kids till usha finally left big law, but that only happened recently. But he has all of these ideas about how we should run our families…

Aren’t the parents ivory tower bureaucrats in San Diego? Wasn’t he allegedly a venture capitalist in San Francisco before buying a senate seat in 2022? Doesn’t sound like they’ve ever prioritized living anywhere near either grandparents. Sf to her family in SD is over 500 miles. DC to his family in Cincinnati is also over 500 miles.

I have not read this thread, so it's probably already been mentioned but I Wanted to mention that one of JD Vances best friends from college was on The Daily recently and it was very insightful to listen to her. It's clear to me that Vance is an inauthentic tool who shape shifts to fit whatever is politically best for him.

That’s… not even true. There’s evidence that some chimpanzees, orcas, pilot whales, narwhals and beluga whales all experience menopause.

And that’s putting aside the fact that it’s really weird to have two guys in their 30s discussing “postmenopausal females” when I, a 51-year-old woman, had never before said the words, “postmenopausal female” in that order.

I listened to it and I don’t think Vance was really expressing a view that older women have no value other than childcare. My take away from it was that he’s a huge suck up that wanted to agree with the podcast host, and that both of them are that special brand of d-bag mansplainer that thinks they are so intellectual and are gojng to apply a law and Econ analysis and say thinks they think sound radical (like him saying that letting his MIL watch his baby is the most “regressive” thing he’s ever done).
