Agree - and if the Dems don't push her out and start fresh with somebody that can WIN no matter their color (including a white man, if that's what it takes), then the party is simply too stupid to vote for.

Biden/Harris campaign money can only be used by Biden or Harris. Anyone else would be stating from scratch. Harris is really the only alternative to Biden.

Agreed.

I don’t really understand the objections to Harris. She would be better than Trump, and is more alive and mentally competent than Biden. Plus, she would get Biden’s war chest.

I actually think a lot of the objections to Harris are just the virulent misogyny that’s a significant part of the Democratic Party these days. It’s all the same.

(FWIW I am a centrist Democrat who will never vote for Trump.)

Misogyny or no misogyny, a campaign is about WINNING and she is grating. Biden was the pick in 2020 because he was what we needed to WIN - a white guy who was capable to telling Trump to F-off. To WIN it has to be a DUDE that can deliver Pennsylania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

This just complicates the whole issue.

Many Dems and Donors want him out, he still seems to have lots of support…. So at this rate he will limp into the general election and get blown out.

Either he needs to be replaced asap or every dem needs to get on board to defend him and support him. This mixed messaging will definitely cost him the election.

For sure. Biden can’t ride this out. Aging is a one way street.

Of course the governors claim to unanimously support him. They have to allow him to save face and later pretend that bowing out is his own decision (if offered enough money).

Please someone get Whitmer out onto the talk shows to discuss easy issues to get a reading for her candidacy. Is there really anyone else who might do this?

Hopefully the Biden’s can pull it together to fake a glorious acute situation with the perfect timing to hand over the nomination but stabilize the presidency for a few months. Unfortunately he is probably too far gone, Ruth Bader Biden, but one can still dream.

I hope James Carville isn’t also too old to get the Dems together from behind the scenes. There don’t seem to be many other people with their lights still on, sufficient interest and having the deep understanding needed to handle this crazy situation.

Not too long ago it was suggested Biden dump Harris as she was a drag on his re-election due to her being polar and having horrible approval ratings. Now you see her as a strong candidate? Laughable.🙄

It shows how dumb the mainstream media is.

Elie Mystal is good at being cute with his words - but he's wrong about this. VPs are not president material. They're the opposite. They're chosen as VP because they're not threatening.

She can stay on as the new VP. Someone better can be the new presidential candidate.

Biden isn’t fit to be president by your own standards because he like Kamala was a non threatening dud and clumsy /gaffe machine VP

He was never meant to be president and when he agreed to the placeholder president while the Dems worked on finding a good candidate, it was only to be for one term. The Dems sat on their hands and couldn't find anyone. So here we are, scrambling to convince everyone that Harris isn't really that bad.

Harris can beat Trump. Put a white governor on the ticket as VP and it's all good.

With a large war chest behind her that is well-managed, I am convinced she could win. Trump is such a weak candidate.

I couldn't care less if he runs again or not. If he runs, he will not win.

What I care about is the next 6 1/2 months with him in office. Things have not exactly gone swimmingly for the past 3 years, domestically or internationally. And, while the American people saw Biden in cognitive decline, more importantly - the leaders of adversarial nations also saw it.

I don't think so. There's a reason she's been relatively hidden over the past three years. That's why her poll numbers now are relatively good. But once she's on TV 24/7 as the Democratic nominee, and more people are exposed to her word salad and the ease with which she gets flustered, that'll change. She made her name as the Attorney General of California, and you know Republicans will be all over that. Ditto her role as the border czar. She will be immediately be put in the pro-criminals, pro-open borders, California progressive box. And she has lost a lot of staff as VP, which suggests she's a terrible and insecure manager. She's also not that much better that Biden in conveying a coherent thought. Plus I don't think it's a given that blacks are going to rally around a woman that primarily identified as Indian for most of her life, which makes sense since her Jamaican father was largely absent. Very, very few people survive the hyper-glare of media attention when running for President. Including her when she ran in 2020 and dropped out before the first primary.

I think she'd be a disastrous fill-in for Biden under the circumstances. Kamala Harris is not winning Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada and all the other battleground states. Even New Jersey and New Hampshire are polling for Trump now. If Democrats want to stop the upcoming collapse, they will have to choose differently. But of course passing over a woman of color VP for a white person will absolutely destroy the base.

In the end, it was a terrible idea to anoint a feeble and elderly Biden. I do not see any possible salvation from their arrogance.

this is a good thread explaining the media freak out

So instead of journalism, we are getting "but her emails" part 2.

White guys don't like her. Most of them vote Republican anyways.

Harris can galvanize the base, keep college education women engaged and get more of the youth vote than Biden at this point.

Pick a VP from one of the swing states and go for it!

The DNC and Bidens campaign ruined Elizabeth Warren on purpose with racist accusations and smears . She was the original front runner and was the perfect medium /halfway point between the Bernie Sanders and the Hillary Clinton supporters, and she could even win independents and would’ve won Midwestern caucuses easily .
Bidens campaign killed Warren in the press on purpose and the system was changed so SC would matter more

Now, we are where we are.

Elizabeth Warren was an awful candidate in 2020. She blew through $116M and ddidn't even win her home state.

Grating? Let me guess, of course you want a woman president just not THAT woman (or Hillary, or Warren, or Klobacher…) and you’ll find something about Whitmer. It never fails.

More importantly, white girls don't like her. And POC guys and girls don't like her much either.
