Biden weighing whether to drop out

This could really shake things up for the better.

The Democratic Party would be incredibly energized by a different candidate.

If he drops out, it will have to be Harris, as she is the only one with the legal claim to the campaign war chest and whoever the DNC puts the VP mantle on. Since it likely "can't" be two women, I would go with Bashear.

They'd have to push Harris out. She isn't popular with anyone

That isn't going to happen. It will be Biden or Harris at the top of the ticket.

Good man. How unlike Trump he is.

If he voluntarily bows out, I will remember him for all his policy achievements, not for his last debate performance.

I wasn't going to say it like that, but I concur with the sentiment.

Harris 2024! First female President of the USA!

ALL of these threads on DCUM right now are the exact reason Biden ran in 2020 and has to now, chosen to stay in the race in 2024. Letting the Democratic viper nest have at it at this stage of the cycle, with what is at stake, can be catastrophic.

Notice how Donald has been relatively silent the last 48 hours while the Dems implode?

Just stop everyone, you are giving the GOP what it wants.

Not too long ago it was suggested Biden dump Harris as she was a drag on his re-election due to her being polar and having horrible approval ratings. Now you see her as a strong candidate? Laughable.🙄

Elie Mystal is good at being cute with his words - but he's wrong about this. VPs are not president material. They're the opposite. They're chosen as VP because they're not threatening.

She can stay on as the new VP. Someone better can be the new presidential candidate.

Some will remember the laws he signed. Others will remember the results he delivered. Those are not necessarily the same thing.

The whole Biden thing is an OP and many Democrats are falling for it. The media is pushing it because it means more clicks.

I would agree with this POV had the decision been made 6 months ago. But it’s awful late now to bring someone completely new in, for several reasons I don’t need to rehash here.

This is why the VP decision made 4 years ago was so critical- there was always a decent chance he would not be able to run again and the VP would be viewed as a top candidate to be his successor. Harris was not my top choice at the time, I’m not sure she was even Biden’s personal top choice. But his campaign boxed themselves in by pledging to choose a VP that was both female and a POC.

The black women I know are practical and realistic. If Harris isn't the chosen one they understand why. Nobody is more cynical because they have seen it all. Won't stop them from voting.
