I feel like people are reading into the speech. His mom is a doctor! He knows many women obviously work... |
The school is in the KC area, and every Chiefs fan knows who he is. Benedictine didn't invite him for the press. And the only person who linked him to Travis and Taylor was Butker himself. |
He also gave a commencement address last year at his alma mater, before Travis and Taylor were dating. His comments are dumb, and I'm not sure why any school invites a football player to give commencement addresses, but they definitely do. |
Did you hear what he said..... "I have leaned into my vocation as a husband and father and as a man." "To the gentlemen here today - part of what plagues our society is this lie that has been told to you that men are not necessary in the home or in our communities." He credits his wife with making sure that he puts family first ahead of his career. Contrary to the many posts on this board - there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with traditional gender roles, with a focus on family and children, and women serving as homemakers as their primary vocation. |
Have you seen the recently released documentary God & Country? Highly recommend it - the agenda is real and we must resist at all cost, or our children and grandchildren will live under religious oppression. |

Irrelevant to Catholics too, and his speech was denounced by Benedictines. Anyone who is reporting it honestly is including the analysis that shows his speech runs afoul of Catholic teaching. TO be clear: he was speaking for himself. |
No. Totally wrong. You clearly know nothing about the Benedictine order. They are outraged by this speech. "The sisters of Mount St. Scholastica do not believe that Harrison Butker's comments in his 2024 Benedictine College commencement address represent the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college that our founders envisioned and in which we have been so invested," the posts read. https://www.kmbc.com/article/benedictine-sisters-of-mount-st-scholastica-statement-harrison-butker-commencement-speech/60819290#:~:text=address%20was%20divisive.-,%22The%20sisters%20of%20Mount%20St.%20Scholastica%20do%20not%20believe%20that,invested%2C%22%20the%20posts%20read. |
+1 No way. Ask your Pope about that. |
Sick burn |
Listen to his words. He is criticizing his mother. Maybe he isn't smart enough to appreciate that. |
What % of women watch KC chiefs? Hint: is very low. Of course he mentioned Taylor he’s an attention whore using religion for his own gain. |
|
I don't see anything wrong with a catholic person discussing catholic ideas at a catholic university.
Also, his message was, careers are not as fulfilling as family, so think of yourself first as a provider and caretaker and second about ambition. And he said, and I agree, that being a homemaker is s noble pursuit. These are good values. |
It's not religion that is seeking to control you. |
100% this. Patrick Mahomes even said that his performance for last season was greatly benefited from his female physical therapist: https://www.usa.edu/blog/kansas-city-chiefs-qb-patrick-mahomes-recognizes-usahs-alum/#:~:text=USAHS%20DPT%20Alumni%20Julie%20Frymyer%20at%20work%20with%20the%20Chiefs&text=She%20earned%20Mahomes'%20trust%20when,injury%20a%20few%20years%20ago. |
