NCS - Pros and Cons

Anonymous
The facts are that most political figures in DC send their kids to private school.

Nobody really cares about anyone’s party affiliation at NCS. Yes, people “Google” and I’m certain there are friend groups based on it but so what? Exactly the same in any community.

There’s no box for “party affiliation” on the application form so nobody really cares and yes conservatives certainly attend and are welcome. Been there for a decade (two daughters) and it has never been an issue.

Those of you, who seem to think that this is all girls can/will do without other distraction think very little of girls. What I observed both times where girls who were actually pretty creative coming up with things to do, games to play, etc. Imagine that you can actually pretend play, play tag/freeze, do cartwheels, play sports (my girls often took their soccer balls for this exact purpose), jump rope in a big open field. But look, NCS still remains as one of the most competitive schools to get into so we certainly not hurting for applicants. By all means, apply elsewhere. GDS has a beautiful playground for its students.

This comment actually cracks me up- could you imagine the dcum response if any dcps school had their 4th and 5th grade girls play in a public park for outdoor time/recess? But since it’s ncs it’s great!

Lafayette in NW has their kids play in the public park that’s right next to the school. No complaints there.

Nope! Stay away. We don’t need or want your kind. We have enough nonsense out of the ones who are already there. Go find a Catholic school or something.

-NCS mom who prays you stay away!

Is representative of the level of discourse and intelligence you find at NCS? Ouch. Not a good look.

Students at NCS are all pretty self-aware and don't need this rammed down their throats at every turn. If Close parents wanted a movement instead of a school, they would have applied elsewhere. This is coming from a progressive, by the way.

Please explain. I am a URM parent at NCS, who came through BVR and I find the DEI to be an utter joke. The DEI deans are a joke. None of them are qualified DEI professionals. They are teachers who have been asked or volunteered to take on additional duties for free. So please do tell what DEI messages are being shoved down the girls throats because I’m a lost for what any of it could possibly be. NCS straddles the fence in its attempt to be DEI ambiguous, at best.

Others are saying that Trump voting conservatives are unwelcome. Is that true?

What? So many Trump admin officials and Republican operative parents at the school… the close is the safest place for those families. Do they wear maga hats? No but they’re the ones who either got his allies or Trump to DC!

And that is exactly why we don’t need not one more. The ones that are there are insufferable. We wish they would all leave, quite frankly.

We are way past the days of discourse and intelligence…so yeah, nah. I would prefer my girls not have to tolerate having discourse with people who support someone completely opposed to their existence and progression. PeriodT!

Lafayette Park is just a tad different than a public patch of grass area with a public bench that ncs girls have

Guess your admin disagrees with you. Wonder why?

If you are Catholic Trump supporters, why would you go to NCS? Go to one of the Catholic schools.

Why not? No Catholics allowed?

Agree with this 100%. I"m a white moderate NCS parent and I can't imagine there is anything offensive about the NCS DEI programming. It's minimal. The person complaining about DEI at NCS has to be a troll.

Catholics are allowed, but you describe yourself as a Trump supporter. NCS is a school that believes in supporting girls to be ambitious, smart, hard working, professionals, etc. Not your values. And the Catholic schools are cheaper.

I’m not that poster.

So Catholics are allowed? So leave the Catholicism out of it. You are talking about politics.

And - surprise! - many Trump supporters have just as much money as you. They want to be where you are. What does that say about NCS? Did you address your concerns with the NCS administration?
