Fair point. I jumped in to offer support to the school and to him, but now see it wasn’t helpful at all.

I did the same. I thought that defending an educator who has been nothing but supportive to my daughters for years was the right thing to do but I see how this just gives more fuel to his critics. If my girls weren’t already in high school I’d be looking for a new school, I’ve learned a lot about my fellow SR parents and am disgusted.

I don’t understand, if you don’t believe in Catholic values, why did you send your daughters to a Catholic school all these years? SR is as a foundation, a Catholic school. If you support a teacher who had been trying to subvert Catholic values at a Catholic school, then I would say, you, like him, shouldn’t be at a Catholic school.

I don’t believe he’s been subverting Catholic values, I think he said one stupid thing that has been taken out of context. I am a Catholic who has read all of the papal Enciclicals around sexuality and he is no more out of line with catholic doctrine than any teacher who has used artificial birth control. Is anyone going after them? My family has been in Catholic schools for generations, admittedly my grandparents generation were much more devout with daily mass as part of their practice. It’s really odd to see all of these families come to my Catholic school, many of whom aren’t Catholic just MAGA conservatives, and suddenly they’re the Catholic police.

He said he feels great about subverted Catholic values. How much worse could it be? Even if he did not subvert the Catholic teachings in that act, he said he felt great about subverting Catholic teachings, and that is the crux of the matter.

That’s not what he said. He said “subverting the Catholic Church’s agenda on homosexuality”.

Agendas aren’t values.

Mince words however you want, he did say he has been purposely subverting Catholic teachings. The Catholic Church has not embraced the doctrines of LGBTQ, so he is working against the Catholic Church. If he doesn’t agree with or respect Catholic teachings, he shouldn’t be teaching at a Catholic school.

Ok then, let’s get rid of all of the gay faculty and staff. The Catholic Church has been equally clear in all of the same teachings on Catholic sexuality that artificial birth control and sexual activity outside the bounds of marriage are sinful, get rid of all of the members of our community who have done that. Kick out the girls who were born using IVF. Who do you have left now?

Oh stop it. All Catholics are all sinners. It is one thing to be human and another to outright degrade the teachings of a school at which you are employed and collecting a paycheck. Parents could no longer trust this faculty member. That is the bottom line.

He didn’t “outright degrade the teachings” that’s just your judgment. Parents pick and choose which catholic teachings they follow, if they follow any at all. All of you perfect Catholics should make a school for those who follow every Catholic teaching, I wish you well there.

It’s not a judgement; he outrighly admitted to it. If you don’t believe in Catholic teachings, why are you part of it and why would you put your daughters in a Catholic school? I’m still wondering that.

It’s about picking which Catholic teachings, do you think everyone who uses birth control should go? The church is very clear that is against catholic teachings. Why would anyone put their kids in a Catholic school who don’t agree with every teaching?

What specifically are the Catholic Church "teachings" on homosexuality?

And "teachings" is still different than "agenda". Teachings may support an agenda but they are different things.

Oh excuse me! But subverting the Catholic Church's agenda on homosexuality IS subverting their values. Fixed it for you.

The secret recording was made over a year ago, he isn’t subverting the Catholic teachings any more. The pope has been blessing same sex unions and telling us not to judge, maybe he was just ahead of his time.

Thank god.

You can Google that yourself if you need to educate yourself further. The final point of this thread is: If an educator does not agree with or respect Catholic teachings, he shouldn’t be teaching at a Catholic school. There are plenty of public Moco schools or woke private schools that will embrace him with open arms.

Yes, 100%. Not only are parents not able to trust him with their children any longer, but the administration also. He’s damaged the reputation of the school and brought on all of this unwanted attention nationwide.

OP if you are looking for catholic orthodoxy, you don't need undercover videos to know SR is not the place to go.

Which catholic teachings? We are all required to go to weekly mass, if we have a teacher come in and share that they spent their weekend not attending mass should they be out?

NP. Of course not. However, if the teacher came in and told the students NOT to go to Mass, the teacher should definitely be out. That would be subverting Catholic teachings. See the difference?

What specifically are the Catholic Church "teachings" on homosexuality?

And "teachings" is still different than "agenda". Teachings may support an agenda but they are different things.

You can Google that yourself if you need to educate yourself further. The final point of this thread is: If an educator does not agree with or respect Catholic teachings, he shouldn’t be teaching at a Catholic school. There are plenty of public Moco schools or woke private schools that will embrace him with open arms.

What about the health teachers discussing birth control and not sticking with an abstinence only model?

No - because then we would have no educators.

Interesting how some people are so "concerned" about "Catholic teachings" only when it comes to LGBTQ issues...very telling.

So you are implying that it is ok for a teacher to pass out condoms in a classroom of a Catholic school, because most Catholic teachers have used them? Got it.

Our Catholic school didn't discuss birth control in my daughter's middle school. They used a book called "Theology of the Body" as the centerpiece of their sex ed curriculum.

False equivalence. He wasn't encouraging students to become homosexual.
