The Dawes Rolls included freedmen but excluded Black slaves which is a problem now for Black Native people who are excluded from citizenship. |
It’s pathetic that the “end wokeness” people and the OP don’t know this sixth grade level American history. |
Wow you've gone off the deep end. Take a little break there, scooter. |
Wow. The gaslighting never ceases, does it? |
This whole thing makes me laugh. Especially the "all-in" dolts at the beginning, assuring us Penn was a massive racist and terrible person. They have never met a bandwagon they can resist hopping on. |
DP. We see right through you. You fool no one. You were caught looking like an idiot, and now you're pretending it never happened. Too funny.

+1 Interesting how the LWNJs on this thread have completely ignored that fact. Also Sen. Bob Casey (D). |

Shapiro went directly to the Biden Administration to "correct" the decision. |
The “decision” was never made. The proposal is still in the comments period. Though you know this because it has been post multiple times. Rock on anti woke maga warrior. Keep making things up! |
Says the folks who are offended when details of the plan are posted from the source. Someone set a land speed record for removing the comments, plan details, and making up an excuse to walk back the entire debacle. It’s great the governor went directly to Biden. Biden and his aides can’t ensure the US military and civilian military personnel have a commander, but they are available to coordinate the erasure of the Quaker founder of Pennsylvania. |
| To appease Native Americans they should rename Pennsylvania as Elizabeth Warrenvania. |
The proposal was in the comments stage. I am betting they did not anticipate the pushback on it. They very much intended to take down the statue. Had it not been for the press and pushback from Shapiro and others, they probably would have continued on with their plans. The original statement: "The Penn statue and Slate Roof house model will be removed and not reinstalled. In a separate and future effort, new exhibit panels will be installed on the south site wall to replace the Penn timeline." https://www.nps.gov/inde/learn/news/park-seeks-input-on-the-rehabilitation-of-welcome-park.htm#:~:text=The%20Penn%20statue%20and%20Slate,to%20replace%20the%20Penn%20timeline. |
And a traitor because Quakers are pacifists. |
The National Park Service has withdrawn a proposal to permanently remove a statue of William Penn as part of its rehabilitation of Welcome Park in Old City, saying the plan was “released prematurely and had not been subject to a complete internal agency review.” The sudden reversal posted Monday evening came after a barrage of complaints, often spearheaded by Republicans. But high-profile Democrats such as Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro also voiced concerns. In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Shapiro wrote on Monday evening, “My team has been in contact with the Biden Administration throughout the day to correct this decision. I’m pleased Welcome Park will remain the rightful home of this William Penn statue.” It’s a sharp change from an announcement by NPS on Friday to remove the centerpiece statue of William Penn permanently and redesign the park to highlight Native American history. That plan marked a major shift, considering that the park was built on the site of Penn’s home, the Slate Roof House, and is named for the ship, Welcome, that transported him from England. Representatives for the National Park Service could not be reached for comment Monday after they sought public comment on the proposal to remove the statue. https://www.inquirer.com/news/william-penn-statue-philadelphia-welcome-park-removal-20240108.html |
I guess you do not do understand how the process of a decision is made with a comment period. Maybe you should look that up and get back to us. But really what would anyone expect for someone who lied about the reason Penn’s statue was to be removed. |
