NoVA 2023 Elections: Who are you/your neighbors voting for?

Anonymous
I've always voted for whoever I think is the best person, not party, especially for state and local elections. But the confirmation of an election denier, evangelical, extreme anti-abortionist to 2nd in line to Presidency has sealed the deal for me to not vote any GOP this election. No One is more to the right of Johnson on abortion, which to me is an example of the GOP extremism overall. I can't support that party until moderate Rs resoundingly denounce the MAGA take-over of their party.

Cue, but the left extreme... Here is the difference:
A) The Squad have little power (never tanked a Biden bill), vs. MAGA dictates policy and is now Leadership. As Matt Gaetz said, MAGA is ascendent.
B) Dem leadership has denounced their extreme positions vs. GOP leadership - Trump - is the one who anointed Johnson.

No thank you, the noticeable decline of the area continues and the local Democrats either outright ignore it or embrace it. If they start behaving like they did even 7-8 years ago, they would have my vote. I vote DEM on the presidential/federal level currently but the local NoVA dems need a big wake up call.

I never understood this mentality. Do you think big decisions only come
from the federal government? You don’t think local and state elections impact big things like abortion? Education?

np

Local no, commonwealth, yes for abortion.

Local yes, commonwealth, yes but shouldn’t for education.

Who needs men? They only start democracies. Who needs them after George Washington Ben Franklin Thomas Payne Thomas Jefferson?

Imagine what other amazing things we could have done if women and POC weren’t oppressed.

Agree.

Plus, his opponent was behind overthrowing governments, torturing people, assassinations, etc. And, she supports pro-crime policies.

Anne Donahue is terrifying. Literal DOJ lawyer it’s so weird. Michael Rivera seems super focused on education and he has my vote.

I live in Broad Run as well. I will be voting for Hodges for School Board. Deans seems fine but I don’t trust her since has the D endorsement.

What is “weird” or “terrifying” about a DOJ lawyer running for school board?
