Based on what I've seen in posted videos, Reid's endorsement isn't going to age well. But the Stockton endorsement is a real coup for MT.

Brian Stockton was with APS. He's not a rando MoCo guy.

The people I know who are most keyed in definitely know who stockton is, had relationships with him and are definitely shocked about this endorsement. Good for her for getting it.

Agreed! I'm glad to see he wasn't really part of the closed-school cabal that Duran spearheaded. This is an important endorsement for Miranda showing that Stockton is in favor of a fresh approach that puts learning excellence back at the center of education and gets us away from all COVID-fear and fluffy diversity and inclusion initiatives.

So Miranda is going to fight against diversity and inclusion initiatives?

Based on what I've seen of Miranda on AEM, and in the Stockton endorsement, is that she will be focused on APS's awful achievement gaps. That should be the the focus of and goal of diversity and inclusion initiatives IMO.

You expect that she will discourage APS from "fluffy diversity and inclusion initiatives".

Miranda comes across as a no BS person who won't tolerate "fluffy" regardless of what it is modifying. But she demonstrates that she cares about seeing results from diversity and inclusion initiatives. I'm not sure what the PP meant about fluffy, but I know what I expect to see from this work and that's things like closing achievement gaps and disproportionate suspensions for starters.

I don’t know what is going on with this Angelo kid but the whole withdrawal tweet that disappeared is weird. My kids aren’t even in APS and now I feel like I have to drag myself out to vote bc this is so messed up.

I think misogyny is definitely playing a role in some of the anti-Miranda opinions.

Miranda is an adult and made her own choices. When it came down to it, she didn’t choose APS. Therefore, I don’t trust her to make decisions for APS.

I will give you that APE is better now than during the pandemic. But that is not relevant to this campaign as that shift took place AFTER Miranda left the leadership of the group. If anything that shift reflects poorly on her leadership. When she led APE, it was doing awful things. After she left, the new leaders decided to make a change. Good for them, but let's remember that Miranda was the leader back when APE was screaming and belittling teachers, pushing for fulltime in person school during surges and pre vaccines, pushing against safety measures saying they were not needed, saying teachers were lazy, wanting to order teachers back into unsafe schools or fire them, not caring about teacher health, the peddling of bad "science" that covid doesn't spread in schools, isn't worse than the flu, that HEPAs and outdoor lunch are not needed.

Thank god APS didn't listen to APE back then. We don't need Miranda in charge now.

Stating that I think some (note the use of the word “some”) of the Miranda hate feels like misogyny isn’t “pulling the gender card.” It’s not even a terribly controversial statement. In any event, this won’t affect my kids. I’m just highly skeptical that someone who is barely an adult and hasn’t even lived here a year could do this job. I don’t have to agree with everything a particular candidate does or says, but being an adult with an employment or volunteer history is a prerequisite for me.
