It’s the entire reason why “limousine liberal” is even a trope - the wealthy are expected to be conservative and brutal in their pursuit of self interest and wealth maintenance, while liberals are supposed to be naive and poor. |
The areas that you cite are highly educated. Education level is a bigger driver in party affiliation. The more educated you are the more likely you are to vote for Democrats. The less educated you are, the more likely you are to vote for Republicans. |
