Why do the wealthiest places in America - the Upper East Side, Scarsdale, Greenwich, Chevy Chase, Winnetka, Beverly Hills etc. - vote D? Don't they do better under Republican policies? |
As a Democrat in Chevy Chase, I can report that I cite for Democrats because I care about people other than myself. |
They have a conscience and care about inequality. My question to you is why are all Republicans glassbowls? |
Because we're not interested in living in a country dictated by Christian conservatives hostile to urban America and will happily pay higher taxes to prevent this. Why did uneducated white people living in rural Arkansas vote for the braindead former press secretary of Donald Trump as governor? When her first move once elected was banning the word "latinx" on government communications in a state with one of the lowest latino populations did her supporters take a moment and regret not voting for someone who cared about one of a million issues that were more important to their daily life? |
As an independent and so-called bOtHsIdEr I have to laugh. Dems like to think they have a conscience and care about inequality. However, when rubber meets the road, many aren’t. The best way examples can be seen in the education threads. Some accept Dem policies are great on paper but not when it applies to or affects their children. You can also look at the suburbanites who moved to the cities and complain about for example lack of xyz services. |
We vote for Dems for the following reasons:
1. We realized luck often plays more of a role than merit. There are people who work hard and don’t make it because of luck. 2. I care about the right to choose. 3. My husband is an immigrant and the GOP lost him when Pat Buchanan spoke at their convention in the 90s. The GOP is the party for bigots and racists. He feel like most conservatives might not be bigots/racists but all Republicans are because of the stance of the party. 4. Although we are fiscal conservatives, the Dems have a much better track record with the budget (Clinton actually had a surplus. Cheney said deficits don’t matter). 5. People should pay taxes, it’s what makes our gov/country run. America has some of the lowest tax rates in the world. |
OP. The rich do well under both parties! Where have you been? It’s the middle class and poor who aren’t served in this country. |
OP, in what way do the rich do better under Republican politics besides much taxes? I care about the right to choose, the environment, gun control, etc. |
Over the past decade, I have lost all respect for Independents. That look is not as flattering as it once was. |
And people say the left hasnt gotten more polarized. Lol! |
Related question: why do so many poor people vote Republican? Probably because certain politicians and Fox News get them angry about poor people of other races rather than the rich. |
Democrats have more “feminine” policies and Republicans are unapologetically misogynist. Literally that’s all it is. In the end, they like the aggressive toxic male approach to any given problem and view Dems as “soft”. If you take a look at almost every single policy or culture difference between D and R you will see that this is the defining factor. |
Because most rich people are also educated and understand that the GOP is and vote accordingly. |
Because the GOP has evolved into Billionaires telling the lower middfle class that it is the poor and marginalized who are taking something away from them while pushing economic plicies that do just the opposite. Blaming people of color and immigrants has been the fools game in the US for more than a century, and the GOP proves that it works, while the Kochs, Princes, Adelsons, deVos's and other billionaires laugh their way to the bank. |
The Dem policies that would negatively affect them, they sidestep. For example, put their kids in private schools. |
