Why do people with few resources vote conservatively? As you suggest, liberal policies generally favor the disadvantaged.

Because they value their freedom? Because they know they can do it themselves? Because they don’t want to live on the government teat?

No one is being forced. Abortion simply went back to the states. Oh, the drama!

Where certain states are now forcing girls and women, some of whom were raped, to forced births. Why do you ignore this fact?

Please give me a list, with names, of girls and women who cannot get abortions anywhere in the country.

if you want gynecological lists of women and girls, ask Ron Desantis.

I’m asking people here. Surely there should be thousands by now!

What makes you think that every woman who had a problem getting an abortion published her story?

Are you saying it's reasonable for women to have to travel fo other states to receive this care? How are they supposed to afford that? Time off, hotels, waiting periods, plus the cost of the procedure?

Republicans: so you have to travel out of state for a procedure, and spend one or two nights, take off extra days of work, find someone to babysit overnight. No biggie.

Showing themselves to be the elitists that they are.

All were given in-state choices. They just didn’t like them

Guess those "choices" are in danger of being taken away. Surprise, surprise. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/feb/09/abortion-pill-trump-judge-possible-ban-mifepristone

What the heck are the republicans doing? Do they never want to win another election? This was a vote winning issue until it managed to actually overturn roe but now is it a loser. Why don't they adjust and pivot away from this losing strategy?

Since when do death cults ever pivot?

The average dem voter is more educated and sophisticated than the average GOP voter. This has been pretty well documented over the past 40 years. There is a reason the GOP continues to dilute public education. They want their voters dump and stupid. It is the only way they can win.

I think "educated" these days actually doesn't equal sophisticated.. It's more like "brainwashed" Public education of today is definitely raising a generation of "geniuses" under the guidance of the Democratic party identity politics and relentless focus on racial/gender politics penetrating even the most neutral subjects like math and science.

Take some high school classes and then come back on here. What a load of nonsense.

And around me, the public schools are rich, high performing and mostly entirely segregated.

It’s not Dems who got sucked into Qanon. Just saying.

Qanon doesn't run our country, does it? Does your workplace/college ask you to follow Qanon ideologies in order to keep your paycheck and get a degree? What ideologies are pushed down your throat in the recent years at work and in college and even in grade school? That's who has real power.

Umm be careful on a DC board because you don’t know anything about the person you’re replying to! Qanon did disrupt my workplace as I worked for the Senate on 1/6. Qanon was out in full force that day. My kids attend DCPS and they haven’t had any ideologies pushed down their throats. You need to see who has the real power, it isn’t minorities or trans people. They’re not overly represented in Congress or in State legislatures. Get a grip crazy.

God you are tiresome. Do you think that because of your pithy post, I am totally ready to let the GOP mandate what my daughters do with their uteri? I don't care about monuments and the judgement of history. I care about girls - my girls - and women NOW.

What statues actually exist that glorify “abortionists”?

A false equivalence to the many statues around the country that glorified civil war era slave owners and traders …

No not in the long term.

Wealth brings higher education which usually improves Critical Thinking skills and ability to think structurally beyond narrow self interest.

Private sector and companies do better when labor force is educated, have access to health care, decent child care, and feel Motivated to help their companies succeed.

Private sector does better with strong public private partnerships that support infrastructure and sensible trade policies.

There is a reason why the most educated parts of the US lean heavily Democrat.

I remember Al Gore going to court saying his voters were stupid, and the court had to declare him the winner because his voters would disproportionately be unable to fill out a ballot.

Obama's campaign adviser in 2012 said their campaign strategy was to pursue low information voters, with appearances on random radio shows and talk shows that are not about news and politics(appearing on 'the pimp with the limp').

Democrats are always complaining that their voters can't even get proper ID or know how to fill out a ballot.

+1 lol Qanon doesn't appeal to liberals. That would be Rs. You even elected one into Congress.

Show me the court filing that says Al Gore called his voters stupid.

Every accusation is a confession. More educated voters use critical reasoning. They consider multiple sources, multiple perspectives, and are taught nuance. They are well read and have usually traveled extensively so that they have perspective on how others live. The average GOP voter doesn't understand any of that. You sound like you get your talking points from one of the few conservative outlets and have never met a problem that couldn't be solved with a slogan or a 30 second sound bite ("CRT!", "socialism", "woke", the "border", "losing our country", "get tough on crime", etc.).

Watching you work so hard to try to be OK with abortion rights being taken away is fascinating. And sad.

It is what it is. Just own it. You voted for the forced birthers. You must be OK with that. Too late now.

I think we should think long and hard at the ease in which we terminate a life. Notice how none of these stories start with “Sarah is 22, has multiple partners by choice, and sometimes skips her birth control. She’s found out she’s pregnant and is not ready to have a child….” Reason? Because that would bring up very uncomfortable questions. And that is the majority reason why someone seeks out abortion.

Ok. Let’s look “long and hard” at 22 year old Sara with multiple partners and an inconsistent use of birth control. Is it in the best interests of Sara to have a child? If she’s not great at taking birth control why do you think she’s going to be great at taking prenatals?

Basically does your argument boil down to Sara should be legally required to give birth…because she didn’t take a pill every day? Does that make any kind of sense to you? That a child should be raised by a 22 year old (guessing single mother because of your multiple partners comment) in adverse economic conditions because that will show her?

Whose interests do you serve here? It’s not Sara’s. It’s not the child’s. It’s not the states because they’ll be paying for the healthcare and the education and the early intervention. It’s just the interest of…controlling women?

Sara created another life. There are responsibilities that go with behavior. I knew at least a few Saras when I was in college who had multiple abortions. I’d like to see the Saras of this world not be considered victims.

Sara sure didn’t do that on her own.

Will you be entering the father of her child in a lottery with a 24 in 100,000 chance of death?

Will you be consigning him to lifetime lower wages? Will you prosecute him for child endangerment if he gets in a car accident in the next nine months?

Your belief that women — aka “the Sara’s is this world” —should be treated unequally in 2023 isn’t attracting more voters to you.
