I think it's because I can't use the PG Pool "stuff" except for a few hours during some mornings (for a very high cost) or those 3 random community days. |
But it’s not a county facility!! It just happens to be located in PG county. I see plenty of MD plates at DC parks, pools and playgrounds, which *are* taxpayer funded. Affluent people are always going to find a way to get access to resources. Implementing a zip code preference would just encourage people to falsify addresses. |
it's literally a mile to the DC line. Look, I get that you're butthurt that you can't get in sooner and look down on the nearby public pools, but that's the way it goes. Sounds like you moved in after the area was already on the upswing. |
New poster here. I just emailed with a local news outlet about these racial tensions. |
Oh good. I’m sure all the local and even national media outlets will be quick to pick up this breaking non-story. |
Sure you did. Also, idiocy abounds. |
PP. probably not but if in the off chance they do, I’d hate to be the public face of a pool that is painted as racist to the dmv area. Some of these responses from ppl claiming to be members hasn’t been a great look. |
... and at dcps schools, but we won't talk about that! |
And who’s the public face? The board volunteers who are seeking a diversity chair? The members who organized the bowdling pavilion event? The publicly facing website that highlights this effort? The membership, which has lots of POC? Honestly there is no there there. |
Isn’t there a Board of Directors whose business is to know these things? |
I'm guessing PG Pool has a much more diverse membership and diversity efforts than most pools over in the west side of Montgomery County. Why not focus on those first? |

I assume you get addresses of members, right? The Board could just publish how many people actually live in Mount Rainier and put this issue to rest. |
