Aside from that while she is horrible. I would guess that Vanessa Paradis was holding him up for years because that seems to be the stablest time in his life. He made the decision to leave that relationship so that he could pursue a woman who was his daughters age without thinking that perhaps a psychologically well adjusted beautiful young woman would not be interested in a middle aged man with kids.

I just read an article that makes it not clear to me: was his relationship with Vanessa over, or did these overlap. Comments here assume he left Vanessa for Amber. But other info says otherwise. I see Johnny as alone and vulnerable when he gives in to extreme seduction by Amber.

Johnny doesn't look rough because he's 58. He looks rough because he didn't take care of himself - too many drugs, too much alcohol, too much food, and probably a lot of other things in excess. And just aesthetic choices that are in his control.

Different poster: I don't think he looks 3x older than men his age but I do think he looks worse than many men his age. Having tattooed eyeliner and sunken in cheeks have always been part of his persona. That is the "rock star" part of him which has always been a little rough.

If you think that skin looks better than 90% of the almost 60 year old men, you're wrong. My husband is close to that age as are most of his friends and none of them has skin like that. He certainly doesn't look 3x someone his age, but he certainly doesn't look great for his age, either. He has the skin of someone who is 5+ years older. WHile that may seem insignificant, if you're comparing someone in their 50s to someone in their 60s, it is usually a big difference.
