https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/schools/mcps-enrollment-declines-for-second-consecutive-year-after-decade-of-growth/
And the article says : Enrollment decreases over the past two years are not unique to MCPS. Recent research from the Brookings Institute showed that public school enrollment has decreased nationwide, largely in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. An NPR poll of 60 districts across the country showed an average enrollment drop of 16% in kindergarten.
If you read the article, you would learn that the only grades where MCPS is not losing students is K and 9th. So your point is totally irrelevant. Parents are enrolling new students at the traditional entry points. However, at all other grades kids are leaving the system which is new and unique to MCPS.
I mean what are most people going to do? In America the schools are tied to your home. Not too many folks can then drop 50,000 a year on K-8. We did catholic though and Biden payments paid for the tuition - kid never missed a beat. They stayed open. So for our family we took federal funds and used them for tuition - the way it should be every year. But I think it’s coming…in a way COVID closures will have a silver lining. A bloated, corrupt outfit like MCPS will end pretty much wherever there is more diverse political thought.
You would hope! Unfortunately, we just keep throwing more money at a corrupt, abysmal school system. Not really any alternatives in this county.
+1 vote out the incumbents on the board
