Better not to make your intentions known until you actually have the land. Centreville can be expanded during its renovation, so somewhere in Chantilly or Herndon is fine, especially with all the housing planned for the northern part of the Westfield district. |
It happens at my kids' elementary school all the time. There are several local mediocre private schools laughing all the way to the bank. |
Even the most mediocre private school in this area is infinitely better than the best FCPS school. |
DP. I don't agree with that statement. I also don't agree that all FCPS schools are better than the best private. And, your child can go to the "best" school with the "worst" teacher and then all bets are off--public or private. |
kids from about 5 or more Herndon elementary schools are being bussed to Westfield. |
I assume you are speaking of those in the Oak Hill zip code. FWIW, the ones that go to Westfield who are closest to Herndon were rejected by Herndon and South Lakes in the 2008 redistricting. The DTR is a major dividing point. |
You may want to factor Chantilly into your rankings. It’s overtaking Oakton and Woodson in things like SATs and now has fewer base school kids going to TJ, which keeps the talent in house. |
|
The DTR will be a dividing point until it isn’t.
Leesburg Pike was a dividing point between Langley and Herndon until people in some big houses in Herndon and Reston on the south side of Route 7 got Janie Strauss’s predecessor to move them into Langley. And there are kids in Springfield who have to cross both 395 and 495 to get to Edison. |

Lol. I love how they call it "Oak Hill", no ma'am, you live in Herndon. |
|
Jealous? |
Nevertheless, Herndon turned down Coates and McNair. |
Where does the name “oak hill” originate? |
|
It’s a neighborhood with defined boundaries in Herndon.
No need to shade them for knowing they live in a neighborhood. |
