I work for a center right think tank that studies elections. There's very little fraud. |
Republicans are not concerned about fraud. They are committing fraud. Everything they propose is intended to discriminate against minority and/or young voters either directly by creating barriers or indirectly by giving local officials discretionary authority knowing the Republican officials will use it to discriminate and rig elections. You know this is true. Everyone knows this is true. They have admitted repeatedly that this is all about partisan advantage and nothing else. They are afraid of free and fair elections. |
Not Democrats only, but more Democrats were voting early and by mail so Republicans went to Republican judges to shut it down. Too many Democrats were voting and Republicans can’t allow that. |
And how will this prevent them from voting? Will they just not vote if they can’t vote early or by mail? I think that this will go a long way towards securing elections. |
Just give me a reasonable example of someone who can’t get an ID |

Both sides are needlessly overplaying voting issues. There's a lack of data to justify what the Rs are doing and what the Ds are doing. The country is being torn apart in the process. |
People should be coming out of the woodwork with stories of the difficulties they endure trying and failing to get ID. Would the media not be interested in interviews. It’s so common and pervasive we all probably know at least someone incapable of obtaining documentation from the government. |
I’m asking for a few examples. Out of millions of people. I don’t think the Rs are really that concerned about the 723 (made up #) people with legitimate reasons whose voice will be lost. That sucks but I wouldn’t say the Rs are “overplaying voting issues”, “needlessly” or not. |
Oops, should have used a ? |
Scummy. Once again, look at what Republicans are doing. Look at the laws they have passed that will allow the to overturn elections they lose. Defend it. No one is overplaying this. They would have absolutely overturned the two Democratic senate wins in 2020. And here you are, defending it. |
“Holloway, a 58-year-old African-American man, moved from Illinois to Wisconsin in 2008 and voted without problems, until Wisconsin passed its voter-ID law in 2011. “I never miss voting,” he said. He brought his expired Illinois photo ID, birth certificate, and Social Security card to get a photo ID for voting, but the DMV in Milwaukee rejected his application because the name on his birth certificate read “Eddie Junior Holloway,” the result of a clerical error when it was issued. Holloway, who worked as a cook in Illinois but is now unemployed and disabled, living with his family in Milwaukee, got a ride downtown to the Vital Records System to try to fix his birth certificate. Vital Records said it would cost between $400 and $600, which Holloway could not afford.” https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/a-black-man-brought-3-forms-of-id-to-the-polls-in-wisconsin-he-still-couldnt-vote/tnamp/ |
