Disgusting, such bad coaching and bad parenting (as the parents were yelling at the ref for calling 2 PKs when in the box). Where can one find a true focus on player development and technique? If it exists, please tell me.

Which team? Played the blue team and parents complimented my kids after the game. Very civil on walk to the car. One boy told my son he was a great player which meant a lot coming from another kid.

It was the Arlington red team. Their own coach had to tell the parents to calm down. It was nuts. Arrived early for a different game and just watched to kill time, but based on that scene alone, I wouldn't want to be around Arlington red team parents.

Loudon v McLean was a shit show- U-10. The field marshalls were going to make all of the parents leave the field. Out.of.control. Ugly.

Kids were punching each other.

What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Anonymous wrote:Which tournament is Arlington playing in for the weekend? My son's team is in the VSA canon cup and I feel we could have chosen a different tournament in the area with better competition.

VSA is a club that puts on a good show and has a false sense of entitlement/acheivement. There isn't really much to them. The club and high school seem to work hand in hand in keeping club kids on the high school team and such.

Just checked out the Virginian, it definitely looks like the better clubs competed in that tournament.

Better clubs maybe, but not the best teams of those clubs

Looks like it's the best teams from most clubs -- Arlington, Alexandria, Braddock Road, FPYC, Great Falls, Herndon, PAC, Sterling, SYC, Vienna -- certainly in lower age groups and to some extent in higher ones.

Makes sense not to travel when there is so much great competition locally.

The games in my child's bracket were super-competitive with ties and wins by only 1 goal, etc.

Much better than their regular season. First time all year they actually were challenged.

Could not agree more. Our No. 1 and No. 2 teams competed and all games were challenging and fun. No bad parental behavior either. Then again, we did not play against McLean or Herndon.

PP, are you saying McLean and Herndon teams are bad or their parents behavior are bad.

Parental and coach behavior - both teams - notorious!

"I think some of the upcoming tournaments have some CCL2 teams mixed in with ODSL teams.

Then again, some ODSL teams are monsters."

The above from a couple of pages back, I don't know about ODSL teams being monsters but I know of some that won their divisions this past weekend at one tournament and others that were very competitive. They may have not been in highest division but they played vs other NCSL and WAGS teams. People seem to knock ODSL because "Big" clubs don't put their best teams there but it does not mean that there isn't quality there. NCSL/WAGS and ODSL should consider joining and making it a regional competition and with promotion/relegation all teams/clubs will have an equal opportunity to test themselves with equal level opposition.

Just got this from SCAA. Thought I would post it to get some feedback. Are these club partnerships common? Not sure why it wasnt a local club.

We officially announce the partnership between McLean Youth Soccer (MYS) and South County Athletic Association (SCAA). With this partnership MYS will be offering technical guidance to the SCAA recreation and travel programs, and its coaches as well as MYS age-appropriate recreational training session plans, coaches, clinics, and skill clinics.

The club-to-club relationship between SCAA and MYS is centered on operational and technical guidance as requested by SCAA. The relationship between SCAA and MYS will differ than our past relationship in that SCAA will be branded under its own identity but will have MYS as a valuable resource and we will have a player avenue to access MYS's elite level programs. Under the supervision of the MYS technical leadership, Marcelo Valencia will serve as MYS Technical Consultant to the club. This club-to-club relationship is much more manageable while keeping the uniqueness of each individual club intact.
