Clubs don’t know or care what grade players are in. They don’t give a single shit. It’s such a dumb argument that it is baffling. Part of what is extra funny about your argument is that it assumes clubs care about an individual players development and will force players to play up to help them. That is one of the most clueless things I’ve read on here. |
Your logic is stupid. Every time a player plays down with a younger grade they are taking opportunities from players in that grade. It's not some magical thing that Aug birthdays are blessed with. That are taking resources and opportunities from players and teams they have no intention on staying with if they plan to get recruited to play in college. (Unless they regrade down which clubs and leagues dont want) Its a dead-end road that only leads to problems for everyone involved. |
Clubs do care what grade players are because they want them to be recruitable for college when they're older. This is because showing the number of college commitments on Instagram is a proven way to grown the club. |
| My son's coach at loudoun asked today how many on the team have birthdays between August and December. He said cause the club is going school year. |
How does any of this affect your September daughter? Oh right, she would be the oldest on the team. |
So you dont read... 1. Your kid will be playing down with a younger grade team and embarrassed 2. You are taking resources from players the correct grade in school (not that you care) 3. You can always play on the B team with players your kids grade in school 4. Eventually your kid will need to play on the correct grade team to get recruited |
What are you talking about? |
Opinions can differ but I just think the arguments this person presented to push for SY but 2 months exemption for kids in the wrong grade was dumber. His hating August players also seems less dangerous. |
|
Theres no hate for players.
There is hate for parents who purposely look to play Aug birthdays down a grade for wins. Play on your kids grade A team. If thats not possible play on your kids grade B team. |
I don't have an August kid. Or a September kid that I am trying to convince a bunch of anonymous random people that they should create a backdoor system to make them the oldest on their team. People aren't stumping for their August kids that went to school on time, they are calling out your hypocrisy. |
I think you're referring to SY+60 with a 9/1 cutoff. Its all the same issue. You have school districts starting at different times. It you're planning to change from BY to SY to get rid of trapped players fine. But, you dont want to create different issues (Aug birthdays playing down) to address because if this is the case you're not really fixing anything. You're just trading one issue for another. If nothing is done to address playing down in 10 years the GY people will try to switch from SY to GY. Its called a slippery slope. |
There’s obviously some dark stuff going on with you maybe a high school bully or a classmate who was born in Aug who took your spot. ECNL has already told its directors any Aug-Dec player who is top tier can play up next year. But ECNL wants kids who fall into the Aug to Dec age group to join the new teams next year. An Aug kid is just playing what the new age group will be and yes some might be the grade higher but why is that such an issue for you that some kids born in 1 month of the year will be playing with kids the grade below but you aren’t screaming from the mountain top that BY has kids born in at least 5 months of the year playing with kids the grade below. Unless you are arguing that all kids should be with their grade which means you are actually pushing for grad year?… |
Theres no hypocrisy. The hypocrisy was changing from BY to SY to address trapped players in school. Then pretending grade isn't part of the decision after switching to SY. |
Told y'all it was the same lune. |
Nice try. For those that dont know. GY = ANY student a certain grade can play on the team SY = Students a certain grade and born within a certain eligibility window 8/1-7/31 can play on the team. In GY what happens is parents hold their kids back 1-2 years so they're 16 year old freshman and 20 year old seniors in HS. Usually GY star freshman flame out by Junior year. |
