And Franklin will get a renovation in 2030 if I remember correctly. |
No they didn’t. They decided they wanted another HS in an area that didn’t have one and then they were chicken shits and backed down from doing the right thing which was to move affluent and connected neighborhoods to Westfield. It is absurd that you think it’s OK for the county to waste capacity resources and still leave Chantilly in Centerville at or over capacity. There is no excuse for the cowardly behavior. I’d give them credit if they came out and said we were too weak to make it happen. |
| 100% correct. If they wanted schools at 2000 why aren’t they moving out more students from Chantilly when it’s still at 2400?? They stopped because they found no more low hanging fruit that wouldn’t fight back. I don’t blame the communities for trying to stay, but the county should’ve never let that happen. It’s a terrible look for them and a stain on their stated quest of equity. Vote every one of them out and don’t let them forget that this happened. |
Let alone leaving Oakton at over 2700! |
As someone else pointed out, most of the "9 other schools" Westfield *may* have more students than (hard to say how the numebrs at Westfield will shake out once the zoned MC kids start leaving) are schools FCPS has written off as academic wastelands and refuses to invest in. |
When are they putting AAP in at Stone? The current proposal leaves Stone at 99% full. There is no room to add AAP kids back in. |
| I think a school that is built for 1800 students and has always had around 1800 students is a very different scenario then taking a school that was built for 2800, currently has almost 2800 and removing 1000 kids (and associated staff/teachers) within a year or two. |
\ The docs say they are estimating around 90 kids will be added to Stone for AAP. Um, where? The school will be completely full to the brim under the current scenario? |
You are correct. The person who keeps posting over and over that Westfield is fine because it will still have a few more students than Lewis clearly lives in an area that should be moved and is desperately trying to pretend like this plan is acceptable or reasonable. |
|
Where's the list of FCPS HS sorted by number of students? I'd like to see it.
|
And they will all be moved from Rocky Run, which will only be 84% capacity under these proposals *with* the Stone AAP kids. |
|
Sometimes I think the dumbest comments on here must be from Reid's staff or SB staff, trying to workshop their arguments.
Are they really trying to go with "Westfield will be fine, just like Lewis is fine?" |
Its crazy. Westfield is only at 2083 kids with their "final" proposal, and that's before the people they are trying to move somehow pay a bribe and get moved back which has been the pattern this whole proce. They could end up with only 1800 kids zoned, and much fewer showing up to actually attend. At a school for 2800 kids! right next to schools that are overcrowded! |
According to FCPS, Lewis IS fine. That's why they don't need to move kids out of hugely overcrowed WSHS next door to Lewis. Because Lewis is just fine and doing great. Who needs classes, clubs, or sports teams? |
