You people need to put down the Kool aid. Are you willfully stupid or outright crazy? Or just a garden variety troll? As soon as you start talking about "liberals" as though they are a monolith, you lose all credibility. There are crazy posts on these Kavanaugh threads, to be sure, but so is yours. You "know" he's innocent. There are a limited set of people who "know" that, and you ain't one of em.

LOL! Kool aid? Go watch the opening of the first hearing on Kavanaugh. Almost choreographed and staged. Ridiculous, unprofessional performance by Dems.

Then, go listen to Feinstein the afternoon of K's last hearing--all the attacks. All the stupid questions about high school yearbooks. Personal attacks. Kavanaugh has had years on the bench and yet high school is the best they have? And, the assault accusations. Look at how Ford was handled by her lawyers--either she is lying or they deceived her.

No. It's not Kool Aid. The spiked punch came from Feinstein, et.al--not Kavanaugh.

And then watch this and try to convince me that this guy is owed a Supreme Court seat.

Not sure if I’m missing something, but that seems pretty uneventful.

Well, I guess you missed all the LIES the guy who wants to be on the SCOTUS said. Boofing means using drugs/alcohol anally, Devil’s Triangle is a threesome, Kav refused to admit that ralphing referred to puking when drunk, etc.
Review the tape and you’ll find more. Oh, and he claimed the ralphing had to do with his “weak stomach.”

All these stupid small lies were completely unnecessary. He could have said the things in his yearbook were sensational exaggerations typical of a teenager, and that he’sd put them in for the benefit of his friends because he wanted to look cool. Instead, he lied, which is far more suspicious. If he’s lying about small things, he’s surely lying about big things.

OMG. I guess you have never known any teenage boys. They exaggerate, brag and dissemble about this kind of stuff all the time. Are you taking all this literally???

These were teen kids who pretended to act tough, talk tough but I would be extremely surprised if any of them actually did any of these things. Not sure how he "lied" about it.

I am not pro Kavanaugh or pro his accusers, just trying to use a little common sense. I agree with whoever said this is like the Salem witch trials.

This.

And I could totally see them making up alternative meanings to these words that were code for something they would actually experience. The boys in my junior high did exactly this when they learned what 69 meant. Doesn't mean they were getting any, not by a long shot.

Exactly! This has all been blown so far out of proportion. I kept a journal in high school and had little codes I used. If someone were to ask me about it today, I would have no idea what I had been thinking at the time. The leaps of illogical thinking that are happening here are down right scary.

Your logic eludes me.

Your beloved SCOTUS candidate LIED to the Senate Judiciary Committee. That is a problem. The lies were unnecessary. But he lied repeatedly, which is a crime. And he wants to be on the Supreme Court.

Bravo to Sheldon Whitehouse for getting Kav on record lying repeatedly.

Kav is not fit to serve on the Supreme court in part because of his lying under oath.

As I expected. This “investigation” is window dressing to show all the angry women who have suffered from sexual violence that the GOP “cares” about them.

The investigation is a sham, controlled by the White House, So no new leads can be followed, Swetnik and her classmates will not be interviewed, the FBI will only interview a list of people the White House gives it.

What a joke!! Flake should have specified that the FBI must be given unlimited freedom to subpoena and compel witnessses to testify.

The FBI can’t even look at Safeway’s records to see when Judge worked there!!!

A total sham investigation and a joke.

I hope and pray the furious women vote these GOP bastards out of the Senate forever. This misogynistic GOP cannot continue in power.

This is a sham. McConnell has as much respect for the American public as he does for victims of sexual assault - none. Trump and party above all.

Both of Ford's brothers are DC area lawyers. Why go to beach friends?

Whether the references in the yearbook mean he and his friends engaged in those behaviors is less important than the fact that he lied under oath about those references. His lack of honesty is what should be the end of this. None of us will ever know for sure whether he committed any assaults absent other evidence. But his perjury was unquestionable. And it is irrelevant that he and many of us think the questions he evaded or lied in response to we’re stupid or inappropriate. He lied under oath and we need to move on to the next.

I'm a regular DCUM poster who does not sneer at people using the Dr title. I especially don't sneer at women who use it, because we have been historically deprived of the respect accorded men of the same rank.

I imagine that some Democrats probably think that the nominee made an 80s “vow” of silence with his crew of Prep school chums, and that the vow will crack under the pressure of the supplemental investigation. What happens at Prep... Time will tell. This is the bottom line, right? And why wouldn’t a criminal investigation be requested in Montgomery County regardless of what turns up by next Friday?

Funny how DCUM "sneered" at African American DR. Ben Carson.

Your selective outrage is disingenuous.

My father has a doctorate in psychology and was called Dr. by everyone. He is now in an independent living facility and is still called Dr. by the staff.

He sounds lovely at work: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/i-knew-brett-kavanaugh-during-his-years-republican-operative-don-ncna907391

Look into Brock’s suits against his former partner if you want to see a “lovely” person.

Can you explain what this refers to?

When Brock and his partner broke up, he sued him over (ironically) a Delaware beach house. Maybe Brock or his partner is one of Ford’s Delaware beach friends who advised her what to do in August

I think she was at the beach in California. It was clear from the ideas that were given to her that none of them were people remotely connected to politics in anyway. They were trying to be helpful but it was not their area of expertise at all. Also clear none of them were lawyers either.

In Ford’s testimony, she referred to asking friends in Delaware for references to lawyers. She mentioned calling lawyers from the Walgreen’s parking lot in Rehoboth to discuss her case. She came to Rehoboth annually to visit her parents so she could have acquaintances who are typical Washington lawyers.

She FLEW to Rehoboth annually.

Why do you assume people who fear flying never get on planes?

My mom is terrified of flying. Terrified, as in white knuckle, give her something to knock her out so she sleeps the entire time terrified. But she still finds it necessary to get to far away places that it is impossible to drive to. So she gets on those planes and prays the entire flight. It's not pretty.

It wasn't a lie if they referred to a drinking game they made up as Devil's Triangle. That is what they would have meant in the yearbook. The fact they were giggly about the alternative meaning of the term doesn't mean they engaged in sexual threesomes.

Every Democrat I know will acknowledge that Dr. Ben Carson is a genius neurosurgeon. Every single one. He separated conjoined twins, for god's sake.

Politician or HUD administrator, eh, not such a stellar reputation there.

And a celebrated one at that. Why did he retire so early?

And remind me again what the connection is between neursurgery and urban housing?

The woman laughed and admitted she flies a lot to pursue her personal hobbies and pleasures. That's not necessary. That's desire.
