FCPS Skyview Boundary Revised Scenario 1 / 2

The new Bull Run island makes no sense to me. Why is just that one spot moving from Centreville to Westfield? It is only 2 miles to Centreville but 4 miles to Westfield.

Of all the Bull Run areas, this is the one closest to Centreville HS, yet the only they are designated to move.

Recall that, had enough students from the five pyramids opted in to attend Skyview, there would have been a lottery for seats. As it turns out, Skyview was under-subscribed, so they started opening up the 9th and 10th grade classes for 2026-27 to students across the county.

With the "Pathways" program, it will be an accepted basis for a pupil placement, like the STEM program at Edison and the Leadership program at Lewis, but again it will be subject to Skyview having available capacity. If Skyview fills up, or they decide to change the bases for pupil placements (like they did this year when they eliminated foreign language as a basis for pupil placement), the ability to transfer into Skyview could be limited.

People always seem to find ways into schools that are closed to transfers. (Exhibit A: west springfield)

You're late to this party. The other Bull Run areas put up a bigger fight, and it appears Seema Dixit and Sandy Anderson are coordinating to cherry pick poorer areas to backfill Westfield. They pick the areas least likely to object and leave other Centreville areas (including the neighborhood where Dixit lives) alone.

Depending on your perspective, it makes no sense or it makes perfect sense.

People did not opt in because of uncertainty. With all the waffling in the beginning, it was unclear whether or not the high school would have traditional options. Transportation was also unclear.

That triangular area on the map is almost all commercial buildings (a trader joes, Lifetime fitness, crappy strip mall, etc.) and a few apartment buildings. People are saying they are cheaper apartments that families double up in. That makes sense to me as Centreville is not really Luxury Apartment Land.

Per the boundary map, it has 77 high school age students- presumably most or all are low-income.

Based on those facts, draw your own conclusions as to why Seema Dixit---a Bull Run/Centreville HS parent who certainly knows the demographic makeup of that neighborhood as they attend Bull Run---chose to move just that one spot out of Centrevile HS.

Not always.

What does Sandy Anderson have to do with anything?

Now do omitting Walney Oaks and moving Chantilly Mews which is walking distance to Chantilly and a long bus ride to Westfield. This is egregious.

Was that Seema also or a different SB member?

Sandy Anderson is Springfield District. This covers parts of Chantilly and Centreville.Mostly east of Centreville and Chantilly, but parts south of Centreville as well.. I don't think any of her area would or should fall under Westfield or Skyview. (if you search for boundary maps on FCPS you will find a good magisterial map--better than most I have found with a google search)

Frisch is Providence which includes some Oakton boundary residences.

Meren is Hunter Mill which includes Fox Mill and some of Crossfield--in addition to other areas.

link to maps. These are clearer with the streets included.

Weird because Chantilly and Centreville are literally nowhere near Springfield.

Centerville and Chantilly HS are both located in the Springfield District.

Oh yeah, the magisterial maps make no logical sense.

It’s just the name of the magisterial district. Pimmit Hills is nowhere near Dranesville, but it’s in the Dranesville District.

Seema's neighborhood is actually in Sandy's district. Interesting. No wonder Westfield is getting treated so poorly, there are zero SB reps interested in their area.
