Playing down is for losers. Everyone should play in their correct age group. When you cannot, you are a loser in most players' opinions.
Playing down is for losers. Unfortunately theres a keyboard warrior defending it. It wont matter, clubs wont let crazy parents embarrass their B team kid by letting them play down a grade on the lower level A team.
What do you mean by playing down?
Explain who’s playing down next year if Aug 2011 to July 2012 is new age group?
MLSN is the only league that allows playing “down” because of biobanding.
Under SY the eligibility window is from 8/1-7/31. If your school district starts 9/1 this means Aug birthday players can play with their grade in school or they can play on a team a grade down.
Most normal people would put their kid on a team with players their grade. Losers that found a loophole will play their kid on the team thats a grade younger. This is called playing down for wins.
The problem with doing this is if you ever want recruiters to take your kid seriously they'll need to play on a team with players their grade when they get older. So why waste everyone's time playing down.
If your Aug birthday kid isn't good enough to play on the A team with players their grade. Have some decency and play on the B team with players their age. Don't steal minutes from some other kid thats a grade below yours.
