Bringin this forward from earlier in the thread.

Factual information as presented by her lawyer in the interview I listened to yesterday. I am using his terminology and language.

The lawyer says it was "simple" situation. The specific bike was unattended and so she mounted the bike and then started to pay for the bike and that as she was doing this, individuals were telling her that they had paid for that bike and that this was their bike. She was tired and just wanted to go home. She finished paying and then unlocked it and rolled it back and one of the individuals pulled it back into the dock and that is when the video starts.

Neither the lawyer nor his client felt this was anything other than a misunderstanding. The client does not want an investigation or charges and according to the lawyer his client "wishes them the best" as this was just a "mistake, a misunderstanding" and she doesn't want any of the same "scrutiny or misery" that has been applied to her to go towards these young men (and he re-emphasized that these were ‘young’ men).

Her lawyer has said they are going after media sources that fanned the flames and led to the witchhunt of her and her family. The woman is currently in hiding with her family due to the death threats and doxxing that took place.

The lawyer said his client and her legal team have 3 goals

1) clear her name
2) ensure her employer exonerates her and there are no employment related effects
3) go after media who made this a disaster (his word) and he mentioned sources that used the words their and racist

Personally, as a woman, I'm ok with the boys not facing consequences. They are kids. It appears that they were looking to stir up trouble with this woman and film it, as evidenced by the friend in the hoodie who seemed disinterested and willing to walk away. This was, at most, a misunderstanding between regular people that should have ended when the parties went their separate ways. It doesn't matter what happens to the boys because they don't have the power to correct the wrong that has been done (assuming that one has been done). It's far more important to address this through the channels that caused this story to blow up. I agree with others that there need to be major changes to the restrictions for online platforms to prevent regular people's lives from being unfairly ruined by an internet mob. It's one thing if you are a public figure, but regular people should not have their careers ruined and their families' safety threatened as a result of an out-of-context two-minute video clip.

They are not kids and knew exactly what they were doing. What next, the do something worse as people like you want to give them a free pass? They should be held accountable.

I really cannot tell what Monique Judge is rambling on about wrt the 1st Amendment. Ben Crump is no idiot, which is why he took his post down. Monique seems to believe she’s immune from the defamation suit because she still believes she is telling the truth that Comrie is a “thief” who was “trying to get the boys killed”.

The best argument for Monique’s defamation defense now is that she is now saying is that even if the boys were hassling her and she wasn’t a thief, Comrie was still *wrong* to yell for help because that risked the boys life. So that would be more of an opinion, not a fact.

But unfortunately Monique is a bit of a dummy (in my opinion) and has not really clearly retreated to opinion or retracted her earlier statements of fact.

Also possible- Monique truly believed Comrie falsified the receipts and is lying.
