And players have seemed to know prior to tryouts where they stood. After all the wink winks and nod nods there are usually several spots open to fill the team. So, anyone going into these tryouts thinking the process is fair and believing there are 21 spots up for grabs simply hasn't been paying attention or not running with the right crowd. The bigger story is why would six 2025 Pride players on what seems to be a well-established Pride team want to move to CLC when the Pride 23/24 teams are at least equal to, if not better, than the CLC 23/24 teams. This is the question, why move?

This. 100%.

Yes 100% and not just the 25s. Parents and players are tires of the disfunction and craziness of Queen crazy.

And they think it will be better at CLC??? LOL.

Yes, Capital is better. There have been big changes made in past few years and Capital operates under a new ownership model. It’s not the same parent board-run club.

Right - big changes as in they have a 24 year old running the club now who has never run/owned a business in her life. Her success as a lacrosse goalie does not in any way translate into her being a good business owner. Let's not fool ourselves here. Just start with the 24's - they have had a crappy tournament season and people do not like Gussie.

These comments are a disgusting mash of ageism, sexism and pettiness. Gussie may be young but she is smart and driven and comes from a family of entrepreneurs. She has a lot to learn, as does anyone embarking on a new career path (regardless of age) but she has strong relationships locally and throughout the lacrosse world to rely on for advice and guidance. She will learn to leverage these valuable connections to best position both Capital as a club and individual Capital players for recruiting. She has every reason to work hard to make it a success and great people around her who are helping her. And you may not “like” her but many people do -albeit it’s irrelevant and I doubt you would have even raised her “likeability” if she were male.

To be fair whatever—girls or boys—we have probably all encountered coaches who were amazing players but who haven’t developed into amazing coaches. For some it’s because it’s sometimes hard to translate their knowledge and experience to younger players who don’t have the same athleticism, sills or lax IQ yet. And for other young coaches they think coaching sounds fun until they realize you’re managing the emotions and behavior of players (and sadly sometimes parents), logistics, etc. in addition to actually coaching. The same goes with running a business or lax club, but we’re seeing more recent grads getting into club director roles, etc. As adults we should understand what that may look like and that there might be growing pains so must consider that when choosing the best club for our players.

You know why the MD clubs are better? For the most part they are meritocracy. Skill wins out, not connections. Until Capital fixes that, they will always have issues.

Have you read any of the Back of the Cage Md. Forums???? Those would suggest otherwise.

Yes NOVA - has a ton of clubs for a small area.

Yeah, exactly. You are delusional if you think the MD teams are run any differently. Nepotism and cronyism run rampant at M&D, SW, TLC, Hero’s and every single other club. Patents there complain about the utter lack of a real meritocracy in all those clubs. It’s a problem that goes far beyond DC area lax clubs.

Exactly this. Hero's 26s are completely imploding because of all of the behind the scenes crap.

Not really. A lot of pot stirring on that site for other purposes. 26 Green is fine. They just had a very usual situation with two very strong teams at that level this year. I guess it proved to be a problem but no DMV program has that problem at all so don’t think I would worry about that.

What behind the scenes crap? Both 26 teams? Darn, they were good. Where are all those kids going?

Promises not kept, etc. Many are trying out for M&D, SW, etc. When your 'B' team beats your 'A' team - things need to change. Friend of DD said they were told there is a major reshuffle happening of rosters and people just haven't been happy. Green roster hasn't changed in 3 years.

Not so true about movement, but last year was covid year so many programs froze rosters - no cuts. When you have such a great number of talented girls as there were on white, they will look - especially before high school and possibly with an eye toward where they want to be the recruiting years. I don’t know that it is so unique that 8th and 9th are years with lots of movement. Hard to complain no movement and then also complain the year there could be movement because you want to freeze both rosters to keep two strong teams. It was a strange situation and I cannot think of another program that has had that “problem” so I don’t know that you can pin all that on the organization in the way I think some note DMV programs have ongoing problems across many years. Bottom line is there is no perfect and everyone is trying to find the best fit for their kid.
