Because the "visible" Asians (a large number of Chinese, Koreans, and Indians) do very well and their family incomes are more than that of Whites. The "right" kind of colored people don't want to include these Asians on their side since it spoils their narrative of "we are downtrodden because you the "massa's" shoe", systemic disadvantage, etc.

A lot of Asians come to this country with little or no money but study and work hard to get where they are. If America or its system was racist Asians wouldn’t do well either.

Good point. Hard work pays off.

Sometimes, but it's a question of degree. For far too many today, hard work does not pay off.

The agreement's "Pricing Schedule" lays out a four-year plan to improve the "competencies" of all FCPS employees, including administrators, principals, teachers and staff. The district agreed to spend taxpayer dollars on "simulations," "full time sessions," "follow-up coaching" and "retreats" on "equity," "anti-racism," "cultural responsiveness" and other buzzwords for the controversial ideology of critical race theory that categorizes people according to the color of their skin.

Hahahaha, hope all the FCPS teachers enjoy the Struggle Sessions at the mandatory Maoist-run anti-racism camps.

This is the social justice you voted for, and you deserve to get it good and hard.

Wow that Newsweek article is incredible. What a bunch of grifters, taking the tax-payers for a ride at the expense of little children. Unbelievable.

Let’s get back to the business at hand - providing our children with an education that will help them be productive adults.

I agree. After FCPS can start teaching my kid social studies and science (which happens like once every three days) and grammar (which never happens), and some math and reading lessons that are actually on grade-level, THEN they can worry about teaching race relations. Thus far, they haven't done the first three.

I would not be so upset if schools taught that hey, if you are born white in this county, you do have an innate advantage that black folks don’t have due to the long legacy of slavery and Jim Crow. Don’t perpetuate the problem. But don’t tell my 10 year old they are bad and to “check her white privileged.” I will be furious at that- that term is being used to shut down conversation and to call all white people racist.

Signed a centrist who is sick and tired of the extreme rhetoric on both ends.

JFC. Turn off FoxNews.

Not PP. Never watch Fox. Have seen plenty of reports of kids in various schools being required to take the role of "privileged" versus "victim" based on skin color. Do not think that's OK. Also would be fine with what PP would be fine with.

Parent in FCPS here. Since school was virtual for most of the year, I was able to hear some of my HS students' sessions where they discussed BLM - the organization, not the concept. They went through myths about BLM where they "debunked" myths, some of which aren't myths at all. For example, "BLM seeks to dismantle the nuclear family" was said to be a myth. (Those very words are no longer on their website, but they were at the time.)

At the end of the lesson, the teacher said "some of you may be resistant to parts of today's lesson, and if that applies to you, you need to search your heart and ask yourself why that is." This is in a HS where 62% of the students are minorities.

It's not FOX News. It's in our classrooms now.

Just incredible. Asra Nomani and Elizabeth Schultz are my new heroes. Great investigative work.

I witnessed this garbage at my daughter’s high school too. Virtual class had a few advantages, one being we get to see what’s actually happening in school. Parents are furious, and rightfully so. Interestingly, many of the kids are pushing back on this as well. They know that this type of indoctrination is absurdly inappropriate and unjust. Glad to see a backlash forming.

The people blaming this on “Fox News” have nothing else. They know what’s happening is unacceptable but if they admit it, they’re admitting that Democrats have gone off the deep end. Which they have. Elections have consequences and the last SB election is now coming back to bite all of us.

I just wish they would focus on the basics - my 2nd grader didn’t have spelling words this year (not enough time did yo COVID) yet they have weekly yoga sessions with their counselor. Give Me ABreak. It’s ridiculous

Supporting these people is a great way to let everyone know that you’re racist.

I don’t think your lame response will resonate with the many thousands of parents sick of this Superintendent and School Board.

They never have spelling words unless you get a very old school teacher. Those are passé. They have word study, where, according to my 3rd grader, she has learned to spell “because” 3 years in a row.

Not to mention too (willfully?) ignorant to see when you’re being manipulated by right wingers. Unless that’s your jam.

Terry's platform puts equity as a top priority for education.

Take a look at his plan.
