| For the moment, I don't much care about the micromanaging of prioritization as long as every single dose available gets used promptly. If all of this micromanaging starts to move away from actually using the doses available, then we have a problem. |

PP - this is EXACTLY what is happening.
Look at NYT stats on vaccine. As of today - DC has only distributed 64% of the vaccines it ALREADY HAS!! Bowser is holding it up in the name of equitable distribution. Which is a garbage argument as she has not broadened the approved group to folks with BMI of 30 plus. |
Since DCs overall distribution rate of total vaccine allotted is also way low, apparently do have a problem with what you care about. |
If you protested this summer or have a sign on your yard, you have to be ok with this. This IS what equity looks like. |
Given the crashed web + phone lines, Bowser should.probably set aside vaccine for residents only until we catch up with the other 50 states (in the name of equitable distribution). Would be relatively quick to vaccinate 500,000 folks and then she could start giving vaccine away again - maybe as a tourism incentive. |
What do you mean? Equity does not mean withholding vaccines from cancer fighters because they don’t have the right skin color to advance a political agenda! |
NP. Oh wow that’s cool, I’ll spread the word. Had no idea I was eligible just because I normally work in DC. |
Ummm... Yes it does... |
PP is deliberately mischaracterizing this and they know it. Who would you like to see eliminated from this list- the grocery workers? Or childcare providers? Or healthcare workers? DC should be getting a larger share, I won’t argue with that. https://coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccinatedc |
You are not. However, apparently people are wiggling through this loophole. If Bowser / DC cared to close it, then obviously they could. |
healthcare workers and childcare providers have been offered opportunities to be vaccinated. The rest are all covered in their home states. I would like DC to ask them to seek their vaccine there. Why is this a problem? |
Umm. No - that is racism actually. Why not distribute the vaccines regardless of race? There is 36% of DC allotment sitting somewhere as folks die. Insane. |

^ Do you see? Every state was granted vaccines for their resident populations and has a plan to vaccinate them. DC stupidly did not coordinate our phases in the exact same order as MD and VA, but they are fairly close. If DC vaccinated DC residents, just like MD and VA are focusing on theirs, everyone including essential workers would get their vaccine in a fairly similar order. For example. MD and VA are currently vaccinating grocery workers. So why on earth is DC offering to do it for them?
"Though hailed as “heroes” early in the pandemic, the nation’s 3 million grocery workers lag other essential workers when it comes to vaccine priority. Just 13 states — including Maryland, Virginia, California, New York and Pennsylvania — have begun inoculating such employees as the broader vaccine rollout is hampered by widespread delays, according to the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, which represents 800,000 U.S. grocery employees" https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/02/18/grocery-workers-vaccine-delays/ |
We’ve got a moral duty to redress injustice and access to vaccines is just one way to begin to pay this debt. Later this year this country will have a conversation about broader reparations. |
Do you have nothing better to do than troll? |
