Not yet, it's been almost 8. Not sure why you all are trying to count the summer lol |
Were summer school sessions in person last summer? Remediation/enrichment programs? Program for ELLs at all grade levels? Really? I had no idea. |
It’s also been a WHOLE YEAR of living in a pandemic. Don’t forget that part ![]() |
It’s been a WHOLE YEAR of a pandemic during which rich and Catholic kids have continued to be educated in the classroom, while the rest of the kids have to stay home. Pretty much the only conclusion is that teachers unions and their supporters think public school students deserve less than private & parochial students. |
Oh PP, private and Catholic school kids didn’t return to schools this fall because it’s “safe”. They reopened because those school didn’t want to lose out on enrollment and tuition $. Not to mention that have far more safety resources than my EOTR middle school. Also, also...teachers at charters aren’t unionized. So why are charters closed? |
The parents that don’t think it’s safe. Keep your kids DL, what is your point? There are choices you know.
It’s ridiculous that parents above think they can dictate to families and teachers that want to go back in advocating to keep schools closed.. STFU. You don’t need to be a part of this conversation. No one is forcing your kid to go back. I’m in healthcare and have been working from day 1 of this pandemic. We follow the science and not some emotional, irrational scare tactic such as from those heading the WTU. It’s quite obvious how they don’t follow the science, don’t care about a generation of kids left behind, and the worst part is not negotiating in good faith and continuously moving the goal post. |
right ... the rich and Catholic parents were all fooled about the best interests of their kids? |
Nope, they opened because they know DL is a poor substitute for in person learning. They closed in March and then moved forward. You can make excuses about it’s just for the money in your denial. I suggest you wait and see what happens in Feb, March. Charter teachers will get the vaccine and they will open. All the while WTU will say we don’t even think fall is feasible. |
What are you talking about. They are not losing out on enrollment at all even the ones that are DL, hybrid and not 5 days a week. They can’t keep up with applications from all the DCPS families who want in. Record breaking year for app, ications. |
I don't know if I trust "DCPS," but I trust the teachers and administration at my kid's school. |
Omg it is safe. How many of you have those “I believe in science” signs at your home?
This is science: schools are safe. |
Are you going to tell that to my friend's family member who died bringing home covid? Or the teachers who died? Your kid isn't worth that. The teachers at private catholic schools have sold their souls to 'Jesus' so they don't care about the chance of death. I'm in person but any kid who has a runny nose I haven't hesitated to put them in our quarantine room, it has made some parents angry but you shouldn't be sending your runny nosed and sneezing kid, until they test negative and even then I'd rather you wait. I hate DL so I'm back but don't you dare say it's 'safe,' when some parents don't even social distance outside of school, or heck some crazy teachers! When parents STILL try to send their kids in sick... |
Of course parents are annoyed with you. DCPS’s agreements list symptoms include “cough, fever, headache, new loss of taste or smell, repeated shaking with chills, sore throat, shortness of breath, and muscle pain.” Neither runny nose nor sneezing are considered meaningful symptoms by themselves. But, sure, go ahead and make up your own diagnosis. Maybe you could go ahead and send the short kids to the quarantine room along with the allergy sufferers. |
Don't give AF, I will. I have had positive cases in my classroom. Maybe you should practice what you preach and social distance, instead of traveling for Winter break. I'm not dying because you are lazy and selfish. BTW we have had a positive case and all they had was a runny nose and a fever, but the fever was lower than what DCPS said isn't acceptable. Only found out it was covid because this parent kindly gave the ok for testing, they thought it was just allergies too. Pffft. Take several seats because covid doesn't always look like covid, some people react so mildly, while others are on their deathbed sick. |
I for one am totally OK with sending a runny nosed kid to the quarantine room and having them do a rapid test! Isn't that the whole point of testing availability? Other than that, I don't know where you possibly could teach because we don't have public teachers in person here. Beyond that, you sound like an awful person and I am glad you're not teaching my kids (since when is it just fine to say nasty things about Catholics?) |
