Right. Like you’d ever open your home to them.

What a way to deflect. Are you opening your home to just random strangers that you know nothing about?

I’m not the one complaining about schools being a distribution center for meals to the poor and the hungry. Seriously, go to hell.

NP here. Well, it's a valid question. Why is this a responsibility of the school district? I think we can all agree that we should help those that need help. But why is it the schools' responsibilty versus the town the state or the federal government?

It leverages an existing infrastructure and provides services where people feel safe. Conversely, it’s naive at best to think the Federal Government under the orange moron would have any capability to deliver services or warrant any trust from their recipients.

It is provided by the federal government through the schools, because that’s the location where children normally eat during the day. It just starts to seem strange when schools are closed, and the focus of school districts is how to distribute meals.

I support the current school board. 100%.

So-called “academic achievement” is the hallmark of white privilege.

Why are we valuing human beings this way? Africa doesn’t value humans this way.

It is about time we de-construct these racist value systems and focus on equity - which is what our school board is doing.

Schools are where the kids are so feed them there.

+1. Why don’t you send your kid to Africa then and how great their education system is. So tired of people playing the race card to justify lowering educational standards.

No, I’m not white either.

Nigerians are the most educated ethnic group in the U.S. you racist tools.

But of course since you don't realize Africa is a continent not a country I doubt you could find Nigeria on a map.

No.. the students have to go to the school to get their meals.. they are not in school. It still requires for families (an adult has to get the food- a child cannot go alone) to physically go get the food - which the county could do with added food banks.

Does anyone seriously believe that the food distribution is what's impacting the quality of education offered by FCPS? The cafeteria workers who would normally make in school lunches are making the meals and the transportation department is doing the distribution. Do you think the cafeteria workers and transportation workers would otherwise be making the academic plans? It makes sense for schools to do the food distribution because they already have the cooking/food prep facilities in the cafeterias. Plus, they have the food prep staff. Towns should purchase/build food prep facilities and hire staff while school cafeterias and staff go idle while no one is in school? Teachers aren't splitting their time between making meals, doing us runs and teaching. Do you think having a cafeteria that serves food during a normal school year takes away from academics? They need to plan menurs, make two sets of meals everyday, get deliveries, staff cafeteria workers...If we take out the cost of all that, guess what would happen? Yep, the schools' budgets would get cut.

So tired of people falling for racist trolls trying to stoke racial divisions. Africans value academic achievement very much, even if their education system isn't great. The bolded language was definitely posted by a troll trying to rile up racial tensions and you and pp fell for it hook, line and sinker.

You know FCPS is circling the drain when loony toons political zealots start trying to justify what they're doing to FCPS by arguing that we need to be more like ... Nigeria.
