Is this satire?

You know we're living in clown world when we can't tell the difference between satire and a genuine statement.

My guess is that it's satire; but there really are people out there in la-la-land who think that all of these political virtue signaling causes are more important than actual learning and academics.

-And, free meals. New sites added everyday.

-Also, the PTA mailed masks to teachers in school colors.

-TJ discussions have been fast tracked

-school name changes have been enacted

- feminine products were available in all HS bathrooms

- FARMS students routinely get free school supplies, field trips paid for, free musical instruments, winter coats, holiday presents, eye exams, access to free pre natal checkups, weekend backpack food, free breakfast and lunch, free, free, free...

- new meal sites added daily

Yeah, God forbid that hungry children in Drumpf's America actually receive meals during a pandemic. You could not be more pathetic - and even worse the biggest number of people complaining about this seem to be TJ and Langley parents.

14:48. Fairfax County has a vast array of social services and resource already in place.

Why schools have subsumed these services and now tout themselves as an ersatz social services organization is beyond wasteful. There's an entire generation of parents coming into schools with their hands out- there's no accountability or responsibility. FCPS is allowing and creating lazy parents.

I agree, poor kids should just quietly starve in the corner so that the real students can learn

Perhaps that way the Board of Supervisors could give some thought to appointing members who have an appropriate cross-section of expertise and aren't so controlled by the special interest groups. 95% of the current agenda is dictated by teachers' groups and the NAACP.

This is it. Elected boards have to play a political game and their decisions are always subject to partisan criticism. Appointed boards can straight up do the right thing for schools, students, and staff.

Yeah, the NAACP is why schools aren't open, and why Mondays are asynchronous, and why school was delayed by two weeks....

- More and more holidays added so everyone can feel included. The only thing the School Board is good at is keeping kids out of school.

No the needs of poor families should be handled by the COUNTY and not fall under the umbrella of schools. There should be social services that are run independently of FCPS

They say they are always raising the school budget, but then dump a bunch of liabilities on the school system so in the end there are less resources for actual education and instruction.

Let me guess...You consider yourself a good Christian, too. Happy Thanksgiving.

The problem is not that the poor get food and social
Services but that it’s been left to school to accomplish that.

It makes sense that schools handle meals since students can directly access them there. If they were to give the money for the meals to parents, many would sell them.

And supplying this through the school district when we're in a pandemic, it's just one of many things that are distracting them from academics.
