Feedback on MadLax

ML 2027s won all their games today. Are they that good?
What was the deal with our kids having like 35 players on the sideline. Did they have players rostered on both DMV and Capital for today's games?
Yup! Why would Cabell want to create two teams? He would lose revenue. Lots of suckers paying a high price to stand on the sidelines and watch
The large sideline had a bunch of the DMV team standing around. A few of the kids played in both Capital and DMV games because of the amount of games.
Something does not feel right even by MadLax standards. They have enough boys in 2027 to have two full teams, yet they are shuffling a large number of players back and forth between Capital and DMV, and the messaging is confusing from one day to the next about who goes where, and why. Anybody know what is going on?

Aren't the creating another DC Dogs team with the BLC team that came over?

I don't think so, because unlike DC Dogs, the BLC group is not a complete team; and the existing MadLax team was already good.

But maybe you are on to something - what is the story of the DC Dogs?

DC Dogs was created when the old G-Town prep coach moved to O'connel. His team Club Blue was in the HOCO finals and one of the best teams in the Country. Madlax capital 2023 was a weaker team of Northern VA kids. They were decent but not at the level of other Madlax teams. Club Blue folded and became DC Dogs with the same kids and coaches. This has turned out to be a great move for Madlax

They do have 2 teams and most of the BLC kids are now on the DMV team. It's a good B team but will not play in the same quality of tournaments/divisions.I imagine many will move back to BLC after the fall ends.

What is more curious is that some of the players played on both the Capital and DMV team in the same tournament, albeit in different divisions. I didn't think that was allowed.

Good point, it generally is not allowed for kids to play on two different teams in the same tournament, even within the same program. So MadLax was taking advantage of opposing teams and its own families shuttle players back and forth, which it did all day long with its 2027s. When it comes to MadLax I fall somewhere between a cool-aid drinker and a hater - but this is not a good way to do things.

Sounds like posters of younger kids. My son is a 2022 and committed to a D1 school The reality is that the club does not get the get recruited but Under Armor and Nike team along with showcases is what matters. Find a team that helps kids get better. I have seen a lot of kids in the 2022 class for years. The kids given offers are all really good the club does not matter.

I disagree. As a parent of a 2022 commit to top D1 the club team does matter. The top club teams play the other top club teams. College coaches get the film of the top players playing against one another and that is a pretty good barometer of how good your kid is. Club matters. #DCE

Midnight Madness—8 top clubs in US play 3 games each night before recruiting season opens up. That is probably best exposure 2022 players can get. That all emanates for the club.

Which clubs in DMV played? Hawks and DCE. No Crabs or Madlax.

Look how many kids committed for those top 8 clubs over the last month. Club matters.

2 years ago at same tournament, Cabell marched 7 Capital 2024 players over to play in the lower 2024 division (taking major time away from DMV players) to win by only a goal (4-3?) over Looneys. It's pretty consistent behavior that's probably tolerated. Email the event director if you've got a gripe but not sure he'd doing anything about it.

I wouldn’t assume that BLC is going to welcome these guys back with open arms. Maybe a few of the extremely talented but not all. They aren’t going to kick off the boys that stayed. That is not how they roll. There are no spring tryouts.
