I would hardly call Devi’s mom light skinned. She is as dark, if not darker, than Devi and Mohan. Devi and Mohan are both of Tamil heritage, so I think the casting is pretty great. |
PP here who said she's really 28. Yep Linkedin points to that, and there are also undated articles with her full name for plays she was in at the CSU she went to that, when you click on the promo videos for them, are dated as 2012 Youtube videos. |
Nope. But thanks for playing. |
We’re in the 21st century now grandma. |
Agree. And Devi is the main character with two hot guys who like her. Mindy Kaling has a weird thing for white guys, but she has done fine casting the female characters. And the mom’s name at least is also Tamil but not sure if she is or not. |
| I just watched Kelly and Ryan interview the lead actress. She's charasmatic, fun, and energetic. She made me a fan just off that interivew. I'm going to check out this show. |
Paxton isn't even white, he's half Asian. Get over it |

As a fellow Indian, I laughed soooooo hard when Aneesa went over to Devi's for the first time with Ferrero Rocher. My entire family loves that chocolate and my mom would buy them in bulk when they were on sale to give out as gifts.
And John McEnroe as Devi's narrator voice is gold. |
Totally to the Ferraro Rocher! |

Finished this show this weekend. Fun show! I love the mom. Aneesa was great, too.
Does Never Have I Ever remind anyone else of Crazy Ex Girlfriend? The therapist scenes are the most similar, with the witty banter and inappropriate border crossing attempts with a charismatic funny therapist. But other plot elements are similar, like trying to decide between multiple potential boyfriends (one East Asian or half, another a rich white dude with a lawyer dad), main character misreading social situations, digging oneself deeper into a hole... Devi is sort of like a prequel to Rebecca. |
I just finished the show. Definitely thought the therapists were similar between the two shows. And the boyfriend dilemma. As for Rebecca and Devi.... Both are self centered for sure, but Devi is at a time in her life where it's developmentally normal to be pretty self centered. If she doesn't grow out of that she could become more like Rebecca. |
