DMV soccer and soccer in USA overall with few exceptions. Playing for results so parents can come on here an brag about winning a championship at U11. Stupid. For teams like Arlington girls, the wins are the most important, so much so that they won't even try to possess when playing lesser opponents. That one video posted is exactly what I have seen from Arlington girls for 3 or 4 years now - the poster stating otherwise notwithstanding. |
I think people have said it depends on the level/strategy of the competition. They are being directed to possess the ball, which can be seen when they play teams that do not press them. When they play teams that challenge them with lots of pressure, they make lots of mistakes. Not entirely unexpected when you are dealing with 13-16 year old girls. I've seen really good possession professional men's teams reduced to ugly soccer when pressed, why should it be different for little girls just learning how to play that way. You really need to lighten up. |
| Just saw on DA website that Arlingtons 02 girls team will be at DA winter showcase. Guess they are destined for full DA next year ... |
Oh wow!! That's fantastic!! And I take it that includes the 03s, which is a solid group. That will be a welcome addition to top tier soccer in NOVA. |
Interesting. I would expect them to lose every single game they play even with a combined 02/03 roster. Maybe Arlington will be given a U16/17 DA team next year but the 02s would no longer be eligible. Or maybe they will truly get U18/19 also but it think Showcase woll show they have a lot of work to do before they are competitive as a team at that level. |
I hope they get a full DA. It gives players options. |
Yeah they can play DA/ECNL or they can play for a B team |
This has been covered. Arlington DA will expand through the 04 age group. |
See the context. We all know they will eventually. Some hope it happens next year. |
Where did you see that? |
That would be great to give players another solid DA option outside of FCV. Where did you see that posted? |
Wow, the PA and NJ teams are doing really well in that age group! Are you saying Arl will have a 16/17 agre group next year based on showing up on that page? |
That's great! Good for them. And thank you for posting. |
I personally don't know, but I'm rooting for it. I do know if our conference gets a U16, they will get a U16. And if it doesn't, they will get a U17. However, there is apparently talk of them going full DA. |
