Kavanaugh is no Tom Robinson. Be ashamed.

Ashamed of the belief in the foundation of our legal system of innocence until proven guilty? Never.

I have no doubt that something terrible happened to Dr. Ford. I watched her testimony, and I feel sympathy for her. I really do.

However, there is absolutely no evidence that Judge Kavanaugh did anything to her. You are letting your emotions take over your rational thinking.

I don't know if Ford and Kavanaugh intersected or what happened when they did.

I know that his behavior today is unacceptable for a Supreme Court justice. His behavior over his past professional life is also unacceptable for a Supreme Court justice.

The man's personal and professional life was blown apart by this accusation. He was angry about being blindsided by the accusation. I give the man a pass for righteous anger.

Again: judges don’t get to be righteously angry. They don’t get to cry and gnash their teeth. They don’t get name their (imagined) enemies (especially when they have themselves acted as partisan hacks). Judges don’t get to be human in that sense. They must be calm and controlled.

At the hearing, he was not appearing as Judge Kavanaugh. He was appearing as Brett Kavanaugh - human being and one who has been wrongly accused of heinous allegations.

Nope. You don't get to publicly switch between Jekyll and Hyde when you're up for Supreme Court consideration.

If Collins is planning on running for the-election she will votes yes. If she votes no, Trump will back someone who will challenge her in the primary and she is likely to lose. If she votes no, however, it is not like the Dems are not going to put someone up against her in the general election.

Dianne Feinstein is speaking VERY well.

She is coldly and calmly enumerating all the many reasons why Kavanaugh should not be confirmed.

You can listen on NPR 88.5 or wapo front page.

Why would anyone still listen to her? Do you not blame her and her staff for leaking Dr. Ford's letter to the press, violating Dr. Ford's explicit request for confidentiality?

Can I also add, I really hope the leaker of this document is prosecuted. Dr. Ford wanted privacy, and she was betrayed.

If you believe something happened to her then you have to believe it could have been him. Is it possible he drank too much - hell yes. He

He was offensive at the hearing, and I don't believe for a minute that wasn't his true self.

This is corroborated by his op-ed that continues with the entitlement and whine.

No professional I know would have behaved like that on the stand. My husband has had to engage in a similar manner in a highly stressful situation with repeated attacks on his personal integrity and morals, and kept his cool admirably.

Did those accusations include such heinous acts as attempted rape, rape, gang rape and attempted murder?

I suspect not. +1000

Hillary was accused of facilitating a child molesting ring at Comet Pizza. I've never seen her blow up over those accusations.

Women and POC have no liberty to show anger, frustration, or sadness in public even when they are vilified their whole life for heinous crimes. They would be called guilty, crazy, unhinged, lunatic and hysterical if they ever behave half the way Kavanaugh behaved in the hearing...This is the world we love in. And this is the world-view the Whites are upholding and defending.

The question is only.. how low will the senators go? Will they preserve the legitimacy of the supreme court or will they turn it into another partisan and untrustworthy branch of government?

Low. Very low. He will likely be confirmed. And we can all mourn the day he ruined the Supreme Court. Way to go Brett!

Here's the thing - if he were truly an upstanding, for the good-of-the-country, non-partisan guy, he would recognize that his appointment to the S.Ct. is going to undermine the institution, perhaps very significantly and for very long time, he will always have an asterisk next to his name just like Thomas (though I suppose, like Thomas, he figures he can just hang with his boot-licking Federalist society guys to make himself feel good), and his nomination is tearing this country apart. If he weren't out for anyone but himself, he would withdraw for those reasons. But, Exhibit A - Brett himself - establishes that he is only out for himself and to hell with the country.

Here's the thing - NO ONE appointed by the President will be acceptable to you. Period. The only people that will see him that way on the wackos on the left, and yes, sadly, there are plenty of you. Look in the mirror and get some help.

Most of us had no problem with Gorsuch. Merrick Garland would be an acceptable option.

I hold her responsible for turning this hearing into a circus. She had ample opportunity to disclose this information without revealing the identity of the accuser. But, she chose to wait until after the hearings, after all her meetings with him, right before a vote was to be taken, to begin the smear campaign.
So, for me, nothing she says has any validity.

I disagree with this. Trump hasn't picked winners, and it's not clear to me that voting Yes would help her more than voting No would.

Swing seat on the SC.

That doesn’t actually answer the question. They could have nominated any of the other right wing jags.

Difference is that Bretty has been bought and Bretty will vote to let Trump and his GOP treason goons off.

He is Judge Kavanaugh, to you.
And why confirm this guy?

At this point, there is no way I want Senators to bend to the extreme, obnoxious, dirty tactics of the left. That is where I am with this nomination.
It would be an invitation for left-wing activists to slander and attack any nominee put up by the right.

Who needs acceptable SCOTUS justices, as long as “the other side” doesn’t get their way?

Feinstein has an agenda and that's all that matters. Selfish bi***.

She is an old white woman and should not be in the senate. She needs to be in a nursing home.

White men don't have that liberty either. This is a unique situation and nobody's backing Kavanaugh because they like him or because his performance swayed them. They're backing him because they want to win.

Something released late (not by her) and nothing she says has validity
Lied about what kind of person he was, lied about drinking, lied under oath about stolen emails, lied under oath about not receiving kosinski's porno emails, - believe him GOT IT. You are so partisan that you will pretty much only admit things that support your position

We listen to Dianne Feinstein because she is a rational human being. I do not blame her for leaking, because I don't think it was her, and I believe Dr. Blasey Ford wanted this allegation to come to the fore, perhaps not in the manner it eventually did, but she knew what the risks where, in this highly contentious climate. Specifically, Dr. Blasey Ford knew she could be called upon to publicly speak about her sexual assault, like Anita Hill. I believe her when she said she was terrified. But I also believe she thought it was best to still come forward, even with such terrifying potential consequences. She has a high level of courage. RESPECT.

Oh please. See Nixon era complaints about leaks. You focus on leaks to distract from the substance of the bad acts that were revealed. You are fooling No One with this bleating refrain.
