Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 5

Anonymous
The ABA Judicial Committee is reopening their evaluation process of Kavanaugh, although a new evaluation will not be ready before the vote.

Very strange.

Kavanaugh is no Tom Robinson. Be ashamed.

Ashamed of the belief in the foundation of our legal system of innocence until proven guilty? Never.

I have no doubt that something terrible happened to Dr. Ford. I watched her testimony, and I feel sympathy for her. I really do.

However, there is absolutely no evidence that Judge Kavanaugh did anything to her. You are letting your emotions take over your rational thinking.

I don't know if Ford and Kavanaugh intersected or what happened when they did.

I know that his behavior today is unacceptable for a Supreme Court justice. His behavior over his past professional life is also unacceptable for a Supreme Court justice.

The man's personal and professional life was blown apart by this accusation. He was angry about being blindsided by the accusation. I give the man a pass for righteous anger.

Again: judges don’t get to be righteously angry. They don’t get to cry and gnash their teeth. They don’t get name their (imagined) enemies (especially when they have themselves acted as partisan hacks). Judges don’t get to be human in that sense. They must be calm and controlled.

His views on presidential power place the president above the law. If he is confirmed, the rule of law will be unevenly applied and essentially dead in the United States.

Not hyperbole.

Swing seat on the SC.

They want someone with a good chance of chipping away at Roe.

Pay attention, will you?

It's been explained that he's going to be voting in October on the SC on whether someone can be charged with state crimes if they have been pardoned on the same federal charges. Ring any bells for anyone you know close to the administration?

Also, his writings, detailing how he is supportive of extended presidential powers and isn't persuaded roe vs. wade is settled law.

To resume: pro-Trump, anti-women.

Do you get that this is not for regular folk? This position is a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court. We can't be appointing a hostile, vindictive man for this court.

Most people aren't giving him a pass, so you're in the minority.

Swing seat on the SC.

That doesn’t actually answer the question. They could have nominated any of the other right wing jags.

Difference is that Bretty has been bought and Bretty will vote to let Trump and his GOP treason goons off.

Collins expected to vote yes on cloture. Then speech at 3 discussing final vote.

Dianne Feinstein is speaking VERY well.

She is coldly and calmly enumerating all the many reasons why Kavanaugh should not be confirmed.

You can listen on NPR 88.5 or wapo front page.

Why would anyone still listen to her? Do you not blame her and her staff for leaking Dr. Ford's letter to the press, violating Dr. Ford's explicit request for confidentiality?

At the hearing, he was not appearing as Judge Kavanaugh. He was appearing as Brett Kavanaugh - human being and one who has been wrongly accused of heinous allegations.

Heinous! (Sorry, just had a Bill and Ted flashback there)

We can disagree on this point.

even hatch says she didn't leak it. Get over yourself.

You are saying if someone maybe does one thing we don't like, we should not listen to them. Well kavanaugh maybe did 5 things wrong. WE SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO HIM.

He is Judge Kavanaugh, to you.
And why confirm this guy?

At this point, there is no way I want Senators to bend to the extreme, obnoxious, dirty tactics of the left. That is where I am with this nomination.
It would be an invitation for left-wing activists to slander and attack any nominee put up by the right.
