You think he argued with the mother for thirty minutes and then strangled her (5 minutes for a struggling adult) and then ran after the other kid for 5-10 minutes and strangled them in 1-2 minutes.

Leaving him...2 hours to think up the perfect disposal plan, pick up, carry and deposit bodies in his car, lock up/turn off lights, high-tail it to his work address which is 24 minutes away (15 miles) at 4AM?

And then back to house by 5AM. I mean he could have done it but I think he had to have been eyeing those oil barrels as disposal units for a long time prior to that.

However, I think he might have killed the girls this weekend. Perhaps the 4 year old first. A two year old could hardly understand what was happening or get away. He probably killed the little one next. Then mom when she came home. Several ways that don’t involve blood. If not asphyxiation, poisoning. Put the dead kids in bed, dim the lights, tell mom not to wake them, but here’s a nice cup of tea to relax you.

DP here. To any objective bystander there is no alternative explanation for why he would try to hide the bodies if he didn't kill them himself. But the defense will try to cast doubt on that and confuse the jury, and all you need is a consensus of reasonable doubt (reference the Casey Anthony trial). This is assuming no other forensic or other type of evidence turns up to corroborate him murdering the girls (which it probably will since he has already proven not very careful in covering his tracks). And assuming he/his family will be able to pay for top-notch legal representation.

I really don't care what can and can not be used in court. He's a white guy who killed his family, so I'm sure he'll get a very light sentence. That doesn't make him innocent. He's clearly evil.

Do you know what Watts has been charged with? First degree murder -- 5 counts! That's the most serious penalty available under the law. If he gets convicted he will get life in prison or death penalty. There's not going to be a "light sentence" option. The only other possibility is he gets off for the girls' murders and some lesser sentence for tampering with bodies which there is ample evidence of him doing plus a sworn confession. It's also still unclear how he plans to plead the charges for the wife's murder, but he's admitted he killed her with his hands so...

Anyway my point was that while it's not at all plausible or logical that someone would hide their kids' bodies after the other parent killed them, his lawyers will try to paint that picture and there is always a chance it could sway the jury if the rest of the evidence is questionable.

I'm not defending him, I think he murdered them all and it's unacceptable no matter what his reason is. I'm guessing the prosecution will have more evidence than what's been disclosed - first degree murder means you basically think he was lying in wait.
