Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

May be a practice issue? The team only practices a few times before the summer season, and not at all - as a club - during the winter and spring seasons.

Not sure what the other DMV teams do, but many of the Northeast teams practice all year round.

Lol. Vlc staff reads dcum! They just scheduled more practices! Parent who asked for more practices, news flash - your kid either has it or he doesn’t. Blaming the amount of practices, amount of playing time, or assailing coaches won’t change anything.

LOL at the hilariously stupid idea that VLC staff reads, or cares about, or acts upon, the opinions of random idiots on DCUM.

True. I talked to one of the people in charge and they were working on field space. If you knew any of them, you'd know that none of them even know this site exists.

This is actually pretty funny. I am not sure if the humor was intentional but to claim the team does not practice in the spring?? They had practice last year in the summer and younger teams practice in the spring just like all teams. However to claim that all teams practice year round is false. HS practice/games are 5-6 days a week in the spring. Which club has HS spring practices on a regular basis? To suggest that the decision for the team to actually have practices was a result of a post here is kinda funny. You were joking right?

From our experience, VLC always practices a few times before a tournament, especially if there's a week + between them. I agree, this has nothing to do with DCUM.

Also, another D1 commit today from 2020 - D/LSM to Army.

How often are practices in the Spring?

Starting about the third week of May there are about 2 per week through tournaments of which they play an average of 3 - 2 in June and 1 in July. Many of the VA kids are still playing lax at the state level then but those who are available come to practice. It's more or less the same as when DS was on Madlax.

Maybe I am missing something. Are there people actually complaining that VLC is having practices? I saw a comment that "either your kid has it or they don't." I guess all the greatest athletes either had it or didn't. Michael Jordan, never practiced, he just showed up to games. Lionel Messi, pure natural, never been to a soccer practice. Tiger Woods, clearly just some genetics thing. I think you are on to something. Hey, we could all tell our kids not to study either. Education, you either have it or you don't. This is revolutionary. I think I am going to quit my job. Money, I either have it or I don't.

Ok, point belabored. We can just agree that the "has it or they don't" comment was sent by someone who is perhaps just a bit "off." As for VLC adding practices, I would respond and say that if you are a club that prides itself on teaching and you see that you are going to tournaments and the kids know what they should do but its just not happening as it should in games, its the coaching staffs responsibility to see what else they can do. They didn't ask for more money to cover fields or anything else. They simply said, we are having more practices so that we can continue to improve your sons play and understanding of the game and system we run. Say what you like but I don't know that some of the other teams in the area would do that. Now you may say "they don't have to" but seeing that all of the local big name teams in 20/21/22s (Madlax, Crabs, DCE, etc) had games where they weren't up to the play from teams from New England and elsewhere I'd say they all need practice. And speaking as a former Madlax parent, if Madlax had to have another package I would have seen it reflected on my credit card autodraft.

VLC is a welcome respite from the greedy, daddy ball focused, other clubs in this area. The length of and vitriol on this thread from an apparent number of detractors suggest VLC’s growth and continued success is getting under someone’s skin.

They are expanding the youth programs. They are expanding their clinics. They might be “nice guys” but greed drives all men. Pretty soon yearly dues will go up, a B team will be added, bogus other state affiliates will be added, college recruitment counseling fees will be heaped on, and your credit card will be held hostage. I hope I’m wrong. But the Power of the Green has corrupted better men.

You post the same post every few months.

1. "They will raise prices"

2. "They will add B teams"

3. "I sure hope I'm wrong"

You've been saying this for nearly 2 years and it has yet to materialize. Get some new material.

Hilarious. The sniping back and forth about lacrosse club teams by the past their glory days lax dads is almost as pathetic as the sniping back and forth between the Big 3 Stepfords on the private school forum. I would say give it a rest ya old farts, but I’ll admit these verbal sword fights are entertaining.

First the people who "run" VLC are coach volunteers with day jobs. The team is managed by the parent company in Baltimore. They already have out of state and all star teams like ACS. They already have a B team called Cavalier to feed the A teams so why would they bother.

Do you think the VLC youth teams (2025, 2026) can beat the Cavs teams? Not sure about that.
