Nothing bothers atheists more than people who have a belief in God and express it. It makes them burn in rage.

LOL. I would say that is the pot calling the kettle black. Christians here are absolutely fixated on atheism. There are probably as many threads posted about atheists as all the other religion topics combined. We have at least three going right now.

+1

What’s with the atheist fixation?

What’s with atheists in a religion forum?

It’s called “Recent Topics”, numb nut.

In a religion forum, willfully blind one.

Since you are new to the Interwebs (when did your DH finally allow you to use the computer BTW?), let me explain this: there is a special "view" on DCUM that many people use that show recent posts from MANY topics.

Try it out: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/recentTopics/list.page

politics forum posts are excluded from that. Perhaps religion forum posts should be. Personally I don't use it though.

I definitely think they should. Unless the religious nuts actually like the drama and perceived persecution...

Jeff has addressed this topic at least once in Website Feedback and the answer is no.

It has come up a few times and he still wants to keep the religion posts in recent topics. Maybe he likes tormenting the nutters. It's his website so he can do what he wants.

Yes, obviously the religious nutters want to feel persecuted. And Jeff likes the discourse and resulting $-generating page-views.

Just to have it on the record: I'm agnostic, have never used the phrase "religious nutter," have friends of orthodox and non-orthodox faiths, and am perfectly happy to have the forum title stay the same & the threads show up on Recent Topics.

For my religious friends, super sorry for all the recent vitriol. It's crass and unkind.

For my non-religious friends, super sorry for all the recent vitriol. It's crass and unkind.

Not all religious people are nutters or have a persecution complex. I like the discourse too and have no financial incentive.

Religious nut or nutter is used here a lot. Also people often post that folks who embrace religion are uneducated.

Obviously. That comment refers to the nutters who continually seek out discourse.

Noted.

One of the best scientists I know is an Orthodox Jew, and her father is an award-winning mathematician. My favorite expert in many pediatric safety areas is a practicing Mormon. The most insightful psychiatrist I ever met was an Egyptian Muslim (and an amazing artist, too boot).

I don't believe in god. I used to. I am glad I have people of all different perspectives in my life.

I don’t see religious people here calling atheists names.

Only religious people are called nutter, nut job, bible thumper, brainwashed, stupid, etc.

Not per se.

Just sad, depressed, or indicated that they aren't worthy of acknowledgement.

No clue why atheists are seeking validation on a religion forum.

Addressed to and about atheists in this thread, there's ridiculous, a "sham," and characterizations as childish ("grow up"), among other. I read through it all, and on this page I see "nutter" and "nut job" with reference to specific believers, but I did not find the others. Care to cite?

Read some of the thread titles. Do you see that they ask questions about atheism... such as this very thread?
Or have we circled back to "why do atheists post in a religion forum?" And to that question... read some thread titles.
