I didn’t agree with those posters at the time and can recognize your post for its naked gloating as well. Carry on. |
Naked gloating? No one needs your permission for carrying on. Hilarious. Keep being you, it’s becoming. |
Correction: The two most cringe inducing losses in college basketball are by UVA. |

This thread title is the direction UVa is heading?
They are headed northeast, back to Charlottesville, early, instead of to Atlanta, for the South Regional. |

It’s not that UVA isn’t a fantastic school. Of course it is. It’s the fact that so many who went there are such arrogant tools about it. Why is that? Is this a regional phenomenon? Do people in Michigan and the Bay Area have to suffer the same from UM and Cal grads? Or is it something specific to UVA? I suspect the former, or did until my brother moved to Europe. The game they like to play is whether or not the American in the room being a know-it-all douche is from UVA. It’s about a 50/50.
Thank you, Retrievers. |
I turned down UVA twice, so it’s not my top choice for anything, but the chip on your shoulder is both deep and wide. This game will soon be forgotten and you will still be full of resentment about UVA and, most likely, any number of additional things as well. And of course there are graduates of other schools, including Michigan, who make just as big a deal about their alma mater. |
NP here - I don't think you know anything about college basketball. This game will not be forgotten - it is the single biggest upset *ever* in college basketball, previously had not happened once in more than 40 years, and is one of the largest upsets ever in American sports. All of them. Plus, it'll be talked about every single year in February and March, and during every game UVA plays in the NCAA tournament as long as the tournament exists. Does it change anything about how good a school UVA is? Of course not. But it's freakin' embarrassing. |

The game will definitely never be forgotten. It broke a record, and not by a buzzer beater either. The commentators were saying on the after show it ranks as one of the greatest and best upsets of all time, similar to the Miracle movie re the USA vs Russia Olympic hockey game and how they wouldn’t be surprised for a move one day was made re it.
Do you know anything ANYTHING about sports? |
Thanks Freud. Ooh, quick, now read me! I’ve had the similar experiences with UVA folks, and can’t report the same from JHU or other elite school grads (which could otherwise be a regional thing). Pride is one thing, and justified. Feels different somehow. UVA coach is still fantastic. I wouldn’t weep for those fans. |
